Just keep educating those 400k like you had been.
Hard to do when funding is cut to pay for those going to private schools
Just keep educating those 400k like you had been.
SMFH - it's like an education lottery. If you're "lucky" you might get chosen by the religious right to join their team. Odds are a LOT less for minorities and no chance for those with any developmental issues. Only the cream of the crop.Yeah, there is no plan. You can thank Gov. Reynolds and the Republican legislature for that.
Which is why families should take advantage of this program if they can, before all the openings are gone.
130 kids? What about the thousands screwed over because of this?130 families in poverty were just able to join a better school because of this program.
That’s not damaging, it’s a life changing opportunity.
What school is this? Sorry…haven’t been following.~130 new kids in the Elementary this fall, and that should increase over the next two years as the income restrictions are lifted.
If you're thinking about making the switch to a private school, better get in soon before all of the spots are taken.
You are constantly lying and making things up. The only families eligible this year are those under 300% of the Federal Poverty Limit. And, the new students are a diverse group.SMFH - it's like an education lottery. If you're "lucky" you might get chosen by the religious right to join their team. It's bullshit.
Which is why i don’t get why you’re touting the success (supposed) of this program, when you know darn well the overwhelming majority of Iowa kids aren’t going to be helped by this, and Iowa GOP has no plan for them.Yeah, there is no plan. You can thank Gov. Reynolds and the Republican legislature for that.
Which is why families should take advantage of this program if they can, before all the openings are gone.
I’m pretty sure this isn’t true. Let’s see how many graduate from there…because lack of programs.130 families in poverty were just able to join a better school because of this program.
That’s not damaging, it’s a life changing opportunity.
Both are true. The program will be successful and it’s off to a great start. And, the GOP has little interest in public education. Well, other than getting involved in the curriculum and policies.Which is why i don’t get why you’re touting the success (supposed) of this program, when you know darn well the overwhelming majority of Iowa kids aren’t going to be helped by this, and Iowa GOP has no plan for them.
if I were you, I’d be pissed.
Again, you don’t know what your talking about. It’s incredible.Just keep educating those 400k like you had been.
These threads are always just a bunch of public school teachers upset because families want out. If they were doing such a great job, they’d have nothing to worry about. Nobody would want to leave.
I just assumed that the goal was to decimate the public school system. In that regard, doubling down on this plan should be successful (ie. Continued advancement towards the goal).Bigger? Maybe. I wouldn't be surprised if Kimmie double downs on her stupidity when it starts showing major cracks and she claims that if only it can expand it will work.
So their interest is in funneling as many tax dollars as possible into private hands. Of course it will be “successful” with idiots supporting it.Both are true. The program will be successful and it’s off to a great start. And, the GOP has little interest in public education.
Pine keeps laughing at things where he’s been proven 100% wrong. Absolutely private schools are raising tuition to keep poor people out. It’s fact. If Pine can’t even admit this he is a waste of time to try to reason with. He’s been wrong about all of this for a couple years now. That's really a bunch of bullshit. Where there is funding the public schools in Iowa fare very, very well. It's where the funding is low that there are some problems. Not to mention the requirement that public schools teach EVERYONE, they don't get to pick and choose.
A great number of the vouchers being approved are for families who already go to public school. It's just a subsidy to them and an opportunity for the private schools to hike rates. They will be sure to manage the tuition so they dissuade the non-desirables from applying.
I think it’s pine’s medicine that makes him appear manic.Pine keeps laughing at things where he’s been proven 100% wrong. Absolutely private schools are raising tuition to keep poo people out. It’s fact. If Pine can’t even admit this he is a waste of time to try to reason with. He’s been wrong about all of this for a couple years now.
And a significant number of them were already paying for private schools. You are constantly lying and making things up. The only families eligible this year are those under 300% of the Federal Poverty Limit. And, the new students are a diverse group.
He isn’t stupid. He’s just really wrong about this topic.Pine has got to be trolling. Nobody is this stupid.
You are special kind of stupid.130 families in poverty were just able to join a better school because of this program.
That’s not damaging, it’s a life changing opportunity.
FIFY.You sound like you think these schools have unlimited space available. They’ll take select kids and the accompanying money, until they’re full.
But, maybe it’s just a big conspiracy…
You sound ridiculous.
Who said that? They'll take every kid THEY WANT TO, and even if they max out capacity (they won't - if for no other reason than they don't have enough teachers); again, that's STILL a small percentage of the population of available students. You sound like you think these schools have unlimited space available. They’ll take every kid, and the accompanying money, until they’re full.
But, maybe it’s just a big conspiracy…
You sound ridiculous.
They can ONLY take kids who meet the income guidelines this year. And, next year.
But, keep pretending they are hand picking kids if it helps you stay angry.
That's inaccurate as well. They will continue to take those who can pay who want to attend. In two years they will ALL be subsidized. The students they allow in this year who are under the income guidelines ($90K for a family of 4 BTW) will be subsidized right away. They can ONLY take kids who meet the income guidelines this year. And, next year.
But, keep pretending they are hand picking kids if it helps you stay angry.
So school's choice, not parent/student choice. And a massive public subsidy. Exactly as we have been saying.I suppose..but, they’d be turning down 7k in funding for that student.
But, it is private school. They could certainly do that if they want. There is always public school for those who don’t get in.
No. This is wrong. Certain families, those that the school chooses, may have another educational opportunity. For the vast, vast majority the options will be the same, just with less funding than their already depleted institutions have had.Family have a choice with more options for different educational opportunities, supported by government spending. As it should be. There is no ‘one size fits all’ model that works.
Which is part of the reason many public schools are struggling right now.
And, public schools have long been able to hand select students as well, with their open enrollment practices.
Of course the exact same options don’t exist everywhere. Did you expect they could?
And, the state covers funding lost by schools who lose kids.
You don’t even make honest arguments when discussing this.
But, it doesn’t matter. The law exists, no matter how you feel about it.
You're on the wrong side of history here. By all means triple down like a TrumperThis program is going to get bigger and more successful over the coming years.
You’re going to have to sustain your outrage for a long time. Pace yourselves.
No. Some of us have been in education for decades and know how this works. You’re not fooling us. I’m not going to ignore my eyes, ears, and experience. You sound like you think these schools have unlimited space available. They’ll take every kid, and the accompanying money, until they’re full.
But, maybe it’s just a big conspiracy…
You sound ridiculous.
Bingo. You keep glossing over that they can also choose NOT to take any kid they don’t want to.
You don’t say…and you’ve finally reached the crux of the grift.I suppose..but, they’d be turning down 7k in funding for that student.
But, it is private school. They could certainly do that if they want. There is always public school for those who don’t get in.
Jesus Christ. I defended your intelligence yesterday. Perhaps I was wrong.Family have a choice with more options for different educational opportunities, supported by government spending. As it should be. There is no ‘one size fits all’ model that works.
Which is part of the reason many public schools are struggling right now.
And, public schools have long been able to hand select students as well, with their open enrollment practices.
He's already sending his kids to private school, so this is just more money in his pocket.Remember when you thought that public schools got money for kids in their district who attend private school? That was hilarious.
This is the level of knowledge we're dealing with here, folks. He's not informed and even worse, he doesn't care.
We're talking about Iowa here, do you have any examples of Iowa public school teachers that prefer sending their children to private schools?
