Grothus can and will pull the major upset at 41. They have similar build so Jack's lanky limbs shouldn't be a major advantage in this one.
 
My 2 cents:

I like your upset special pick for Grothus. Would be huge for Brody.

Gantt dominated Cooper at Midlands, so there's that, but I do think Coop makes it more of a match and wouldn't count him out. That said, Gantt has shown that he has the ability to major Coop.

Renda is tough. I think Sam beats him, but I don't see anything close to a major. Hope I'm wrong.

Yup, agree with you there that the Brooks major has a homer slant to it. But, Brooks is my guy and it's in Carver. I'm hoping he gets his tilts going again.
I'm banking on Coop learning from the first go around with Gantt and having a plan defend the blast doubles better this time around.

If NC St wrestles flawlessly, this is their best case scenario.
They would also need a ref like PSU has to go on the road with them into Carver.

125 - Gilman TF 5 - 0 He continues to roll here
133 - Clark Fall 11 - 0 As soon as he gets in major territory, he looks for the pin the rest of the way
141 - Jack 11 - 3 I'm hoping this is really close, but his lack of offense/takedowns gets the better of him to lose
149 - Sorensen MD 15 - 3 barely gets the major here, I'd really like to see a TF though
157 - Gantt 15 - 6 He's getting closer, but loses by about 3
165 - Roskopf - 15 - 9
174 - Meyer 18 - 9 This SHOULD be a major or TF, but it won't be
184 - Brooks 21 - 9 Squeaks out another against a solid opponent
197 - Burak 24 - 9 Closer than it should be...
285 - Gwiz 24 - 12 barely keeps it to a decision...progress ;)

Really excited for 141, 157, 184, and 285...

NC State's 4 big wins are all very possible. This assumes they don't give up too many bonus points, but it also assumes they don't have any upsets either. Renda could certainly pull one...going to be fun to watch.

This case scenario if NC St. was wrestling the Hawkeyes at NC St. I do not see NC St. coming anywhere close to this scenario in Carver Hawkeye. The Hawkeyes would have to absolutely lay and egg at home for this to happen at home.

If Gilman techs or pins Fausz, I'll be very impressed. Not necessarily surprised, because Gilman has been a man among boys this year, but Fausz is actually pretty tough. He beat Lambert of NE, then ranked #9, in Lincoln, and it wasn't a fluke. I expect a major here but Fausz is pretty scrappy and might be able to slow Thomas down to keep it to a frustrating decision. Obviously hoping for a tech or fall.

Pretty much chalk. Really looking to see how much Coop and Stoll have improved. We've complained that a match with Vag Tech would have had a better match up but this is a good measuring stick for improvement. If Coop can hang with Gannt and make it real close, imagine the boost in that. Same with Sam.

Upsets could happen at 141 and 157 for Iowa and 184 for NCS. Renda is a tough dude so Brooks better be on point.

The only match that really intrigues me is 141. This is Grothus' first chance to prove himself. The rest, except maybe 184(and I honestly expect Brooks to win comfortably), will be controlled wins for the favorite. I know many want to see 285 and I love how Stoll has improved during the year, but Gwiz is a TERRIBLE match up for Stoll. Gwiz works from space and has great low attacks. If Stoll continuously tries to close the space he will be walking right into Gwiz's low attacks. Stoll is the consummate big DI 285lber. Works strong on the head from the collar tie and is solid on the mat. That will work well against most other 285's but leaves himself open for the very few 285's with leg attacks like Gwiz, Snyder and even Walz. Coon is the guy I would actually like to see him wrestle. I think he has become a match up nightmare for him!

I'll make one sure fire prediction about tonight's meet...I am going to be there! :D I am eager to see some tough matches, NC St. has got some good ones in the lineup for sure.

I don't expect anything crazy in this dual. Hopeful Brody can make some noise but nothing I've seen thus far leads me to believe he will knock of Jack. Still think Gwiz is just a lot better than everyone else. Too atheltic for Sam but Sam will make him earn the bonus.

I will make a prediction that if Iowa is up by exactly five points going into HWT, Stoll will not be pinned.

Couple of big disappointments so far:

1. Clark has the major all but wrapped up but inexplicably refuses to cut him for one more takedown. Get the major first -- THEN look to turn him.

2. Grothus just absolutely destroyed. Doesn't bode well at all for post-season.

141: Jack TF --> 7-5 (most predicted 8-3 if not better at this point -- big swing with Clark's failure to get the major and Grothus getting just shellacked)

Sure is. Clark should know better than that. Don't know what to say about BG....yikes.
 
Would Carton have allowed a TF? Jack is good but that was a butt kicking. Also its hard to remember a match where Brody doesn't ride to high.
