Iowa WBB 2025 Recruiting Thread

Trying not to be critical but tracking pictures from a coach and speculating where they are and who they might be recruiting is a bit weird. I have better things to do.
Speculating where coaches are going / who they are recruiting is the whole point of this thread. And you have six posts on this thread this week.

Why she would want to play for an asshole of a coach I'll never know.
Surprisingly bad choice. He's been there 10 years and only made the top 25 twice and the tournament 5 times without advancing past the round of 32. He's only won 20 games four times in the 10 seasons. Iowa's program, just to show how much better it's been, in the 10 years PRIOR to Caitlin they won 20-games 8 times, 5 seasons ranked in the top 25, 8 tournament appearances, and had an elite 8 and sweet 16.

Jensen a little annoyed? Posted this right before 4.

I'm confused who she comitted to after reading above posts. But more than likely KS given Iowa's luck. Does anyone really know?

She is going to KS, Jan strikes out again, would be nice of her to actually land commits instead of keep losing them to ALOT lesser teams....

WTF idiot. KS beat us last year, so I don't think they're a lesser team. Sounds like you don't know shit and just want about to bitch.
They are certainly a less accomplished program. The ONLY thing they have “achieved” recently is beating Iowa. That’s it. It doesn’t get much better than that for them. Bounced in the round of 32 last year, didn’t make the tourney the year before. Haven’t made the Sweet 16 since 2002. No Big 12 titles since 2008.

I agree with @hawkod tho that this one stings bc if there was one elite target in 2025 that should have worked out, on paper at least, it was Speiser. From a border state (but not a traditional rival), plays for AIA. I won’t be shocked if Skinner, Hays or Alves head anywhere but Iowa, but Speiser is the kind of kid on paper Iowa should be able to land if they want to stay at the level they’ve grown accustomed to. Ah well. If that weird story hadn’t broke about her being down to KSU and Iowa, I suspect it would be less of an event. I had given up on her before that story. Really curious who those “sources” were…

On a brighter note, I can confirm that Guyton and Alves are indeed friends. Guyton shared Alves’ Top 5 post to her story, and then Alves returned the favor. Guyton seems well-connected to multiple recruits. Definitely a plus to landing someone from outside the AIA radius, I’d venture to say.

Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. Bummer. KSU was in the lead for some time, but when we made her final two, I felt we had a shot. Jordan can really stroke it from long range. Good Christian kid, best of luck to the young lady.

Question is, will we add any other commits in 2025. Concerned Skinner will head to UCLA and Hays to Washington. Maybe Alves, but we were late to offer.

wow! horseshoes and hand grenades...what a profound statement.

Disheartening.
Maybe this is the new path to the W. Go to a lessor school, play right away, get better, and then in 2 years transfer in the portal to a high level school to finish off your skills and get NIL money.

I've heard for a while now it was K-State as the favorite . . .

Surprised you’re surprised shikreto.

hawkbuck70 > Talia Goodman, not even close. What has this 20 or 21-year old daughter of Jeff Goodman done to somehow make her an expert about WBB or WBB recruiting?

When hawkbuck said chances weren’t great with Speiser, it was a bummer. It’s still a bummer now that it’s official is all. I would not describe myself as surprised, so much as mildly annoyed lol.

Bluder and Jensen have set their sights high for 2025, but most of these targets have felt a bit aspirational (including Deal). Speiser just felt like a natural fit and tbh I was hopeful she might come around to realizing how mid KSU is lol. As others have mentioned, it’s one thing to lose talent to UCLA but K-State just feels stuck in the mud.

I probably wouldn’t have been hopeful had it not been reported that she was still planning to visit IC this fall. I thought Jan would have one more shot to sway her. Clearly that reporting was flawed.

FWIW Hawkbuck is also the first to admit that these situations are fluid and kids can change their mind. He also didn’t mention she was leaning KSU til after that article was published — just that Iowa was not #1 with her. She was also liking a lot of Notre Dame content for awhile and a few ppl had mentioned she was very interested in Arkansas as well. He does get credit for this prediction tho. I think that’s 14/14!

I have to agree. Spieser had all the makings of a elite recruit that would go to Iowa. Honestly, I never thought we would land Deal and actually would land Speiser. Getting Deal out from from the elite teams on the West Coast was a coup. Pairing Speiser with her would have been electric. I have to be an optimist, it's not over until she signs with KSU😃

He does seem to always hit the nail. I'm hoping he's wrong about Greenway but his consistency is concerning.
