Another thing about Lewis' stats on offense...in high school at Johnston, she's surrounded by D-1 teammates and doesn't have to be a huge scorer.
She's very physical.

Well said….Greenway’s drive & aggressiveness is what takes her game to the next level. This is somewhat true but certain intangible traits are evident from an early age. In my prior post, I compared Greenway favorably to Clark in this regard.
In the past I’ve read a number of Minnesota posters negatively describe Greenway as cocky, over-aggressive, too expressive/whiney, etc. — all the things you would hear opponents say about CC while at Dowling. That drive and competitiveness plus talent is the unique.
If she can score, defense isn’t that big of deal!In my uneducated opinion, perhaps there's a concern on Iowa's part about her size and/or ability to play defense as a pg?
We're talking Molly Davis size, amirite.
Perhaps, but if she was priority #1 in the class of 2026, I believe the Iowa staff would have had her commitment a year ago.If she can score, defense isn’t that big of deal!
Are McKenna and Addie friends?

I think the staff has concerns OR they are optimistic with Jenica Lewis.
jmo.
One takeaway I had from Chad Leistikow's piece on Addie Deal yesterday was that he listed her as a point guard. I had assumed Deal would play the 2 or 3 at Iowa, but if the coaches intend to develop her as a point guard that could potentially explain why Greenway's interest in Iowa cooled and why Lewis is a priority.
Greenway is ideally a PG in college. If Iowa intends to play Deal there, Iowa seemingly has its answer at PG for 3 of the years Greenway would be in college. It could be a similar situation to what happened with Greenway and Duke when Skinner committed.
Lewis, meanwhile, is ideally at 2 in college. If Deal plays PG, Iowa doesn't have a 2 in the 2025 class. Guyton and Stremlow can play the 2, but it isn't necessarily their ideal position either. From a roster construction perspective getting a great 2 makes sense if Deal is the 1.
Braydon, I think you partially misread the article. At the beginning she's referred to as Mater Dei's point guard, but later Chad says, "Deal is considered a combo guard in college..." So I'd expect her to be a 2 or even a 3 that could fill in at the point. Her previous coach raves about her rebounding. One takeaway I had from Chad Leistikow's piece on Addie Deal yesterday was that he listed her as a point guard. I live in CIML territory and have seen Lewis 4 or 5 times; she always seemed like more of a 2, at least at the high school level. Does she play PG in AAU?The full quote was "Deal is considered a combo guard in college who can play the point or on the wing."
Elsewhere he said, "Like Clark, Deal is a 6-foot point guard." and mentioned she would play PG this year for Mater Dei.
I'm not trying to say Deal will definitively play PG at Iowa. Just that I had originally thought of her as a 2/3 but the article suggests PG is on the table. And Deal at PG could also explain a focus on Lewis.
Why is it ok for South Carolina, UConn, LSU, etc to load up a deep bench with talent but not us? If they want to come here and you have roster space you take these top flight recruits. Then it is up to them to prove they deserve playing time early or they’ll have to develop. Why can’t we be one of those destination schools?Maybe, but I seriously doubt JJ would take both Lewis and Greenway for 2026.
Especially with the stud arriving next fall already in the fold.
Edit: This post is in response to ZachJump.
She's definitely a 2. Aaliyah Crump was the primary ball handler this year for AIA. She can certainly help with bringing the ball up but that is not where she's going to flourish.I live in CIML territory and have seen Lewis 4 or 5 times; she always seemed like more of a 2, at least at the high school level. Pretty easy trip for Bjorn to visit KU. She plays about 40 minutes away on the Missouri side of the state line.2026 Addison Bjorn at Kansas.
2026 Ellie Muller had a recent visit, but I don't recall an offer going out to her yet. Someone else know about an offer?
2027 Katie Muller had a recent visit, but I don't recall an offer going out to her yet. Someone else know about an offer?
2025 Jaliya Davis was a recruit as well. Pretty sure she is a no go as Iowa seemed to close the book on 2025 already.
I'm never going to question Hawkbuck again lol.Skim Milkey on twitter put a gif for Kentucky on twitter.
Chad Greenway follows Kenny Brooks and Kentucky Women’s bball on instagram.
Maddyn follows Brooks and Kentucky.. Kentucky is the only team in her top 6 she follows.
I did months ago. I don't think we were in her final three. Definitely a talented player, good luck to her at Kentucky. Now hopefully this means we can all move on from Greenway lol.
The coach’s description of Greenway, together with her elite talent, is what separates MG from every other prospect on Iowa’s radar, including Lewis IMO.“UK basketball a finalist for daughter of former NFL star. Here’s what makes her elite.” Published November 12, 2024

Their new coach is fantastic to be fair. However, yeah, I would venture to say we're a much better program overall than Kentucky is top to bottom but he's just getting started. I'd personally love for them to punch Mularky in the mouth a few times. No big shocker here it has been known for months she wasn't coming to Iowa....going to Kentucky to get beat on in the SEC is an interesting choice for her...

Tough loss for Iowa if she ends up elsewhere.
You know, random thought here, I was also thinking it very well may end up that Clark could be our coach after Jan is done. That's if she has any aspirations or desire for it of course. Someone like her though, I could easily see it. At that point, I wonder where we'll be and the kind of recruits we'll be getting. It'd be five star after five star at that point. I'd love to see any recruits tell Clark no lol. Especially after she wins 4-6 WNBA titles, and is, at least arguably, considered the greatest professional woman baller there has been, which, she will be in the discussion for obviously.
Anyway, just a random post here.
Whoops, i put it in wrong threadHearing reports that Maddyn announced that she will be committing tomorrow. That most likely aligns with Skim Milkey's Kentucky post this morning.
Thanks for posting that confirmation. I've heard it on several forum boards, but there was no twitter post to confirm like you just posted.
No, Did you read the referenced article? I said the coach’s description about her energy and competitiveness (“her engine always runs hot”), together with her elite talent, is what separates MG. She has a huge gas tank and an extra gear fueled by a fierce desire to win. When you say Maddyn’s elite talent separates her from every prospect are you referring to guards only? I would take Woliczko over Greenway in a heartbeat, And while Maddyn is indeed talented I don’t believe she is clearly a superior player to Lewis or Kussow, She is clearly a better scorer but I’m not sure about her being a better overall player.

Dribbling the length of the floor as time expired to score the game winning basket for a state BB championship and taking a pass to maneuver by defenders and score the game winning goal in OT to win a MN state soccer championship are two recent examples. Some players have it, some don’t.
