Is Juneteenth still a go?

Will Trump hang a no go on this holiday?

Juneteenth, St. Patrick’s Day, Cinco De Mayo, Columbus Day, etc etc
I think if these days are important to certain groups/cultures/heritage groups then they will continue to be on personal calendars and don’t even need the government thumbs up or thumbs down.

The reason you shouldn't want this is one day people will be crushing statues of people you admire. Statues should be off limits.
You must be super excited that Trump and Hegseth are going to change all the military bases back to their proper, Confederate names. Why honor actual, relevant members of the military when you can honor Leonidis Polk, a slave owning malcontent who was a horrible general.

C’mon trad, quite pussyfooting around it. You want the confederate statues back because you long for the days of slavery. Don’t be a bitch now.

Wrong.

But tearing down historical monuments and statues is also wrong. They can be reimagined as educational reminders of how things can go horribly bad, instead of celebrating the lost cause.

Yes or no, you think we should keep up statues of the traitorous southern army leaders that fought against the United States of America.

Seems like it would be more appropriate to move it to December, when the last slaves were freed in the northern states, marking the end of slavery in the USA.

The Civil War and Reconstruction happened. Trying to remove any reminders of it is foolish and reckless.
Sure, but why don't any of your posts include comments about how all of the statues of losers should include informational displays about how slavery was evil, and people who took up arms against the government are traitors?

In a museum maybe, not in public spaces that carry a strong message of civic endorsement and celebration. Fvck those traitors.

Sounds wonderful. Too bad thats 1) not why they were erected in the first place, nor 2) why many conservatives want them put back up.
Yes. They were erected more than 100 years ago, and as such, should be protected as historical treasures.
Simply being old does not make something a treasure.

We’ve come up with an approach here in va. Removed from Richmond and other places. Now scv is building their own memorial park, with their own money, which people can visit or not as they choose.
