We had a tragedy at work, and the boss asked someone to lead us in a prayer. There was no mention of Jesus and the prayer began with God.

People were given the opportunity to join or just take a moment of silence.

Considering all three main monotheistic religions have the same exact God, I would say no prayer is not for Christians alone.

Whether prayer belongs in the workplace is another debate. For me I recognize that people grieve in their own ways and appreciate that some find prayer calms their pain. I might agree or disagree with the religious stance of someone, but would never suggest we take away their methods to find peace.

I only have an issue if prayer is forced on you or if it is used against you.

I always hated when laymen would take it on themselves to lead a group prayer of anything that isn't the rosary. I'm sorry, you need a graduate degree for that or at least like a lengthy certificate process where I come from. You don't just get to talk to God on behalf of the group.

I’m a teacher, so I have always taken the phrase “neither inhibit nor endorse” pretty seriously.

As a teacher, I’ve also been a coach and director. There have been multiple occasions when students have asked if they could lead a prayer (before a performance or after the loss of someone close to the program).

In any of those instances, I step back and let the students do what they need to do. No judgment on how they conduct their prayer, who participates, or who does not.

There is no such thing as God, there is no Devil, there is no heaven, there is no hell, there is no such thing as sin. These were all things that were made up to control people, and to comfort people in their loss.

Life after death will be exactly like life before birth.
I disagree with every fiber of my being, but I guess that has to be okay too.

I think having a moment of silence to recognize a loss is fine, but God or any other religious terms should be left out. Whatever an individual wants to use that moment of silence for to recognize the loss should be up to that individual.
Would you be against public servants like fire fighter chaplains providing care during times of crisis? Army Corp chaplains on the battlefield? A lot of prayers and last rights were said on 9/11.

no. We can all pray to a higher being. I believe in a Christian God and I pray to Jesus. I’m not Catholic but I believe in the power of prayer for others.

According to Christianity there is only one God.

Nature tells us there is a God who created the universe
and still preserves it. ( Day and Night, 4 Seasons, Sun,
Moon, Stars, Human Beings, animals, fish, birds, trees,
plants, hills, mountains, oceans, lakes, rivers)

The Bible tells us who God is. (We have a Triune God,
Father, Son, Holy Spirit, three persons in one essence.

The Gospel tells that the Crucified and Resurrected Christ
has gained salvation for all who believe in Him. We receive
the forgiveness of sins and the free gift of eternal life in
heaven.

You just went from millions to one?

There are hundreds on that list.

It's just a tiny sample.

I know theater owners believe in god because that fool fills seats by the buttload when such hilarious spoofs as God’s Not Dead come out. It is nice of the parishioners to make money for those theaters and not just hand out the fake $20 bills with a prayer on the other side as tips on Sundays

I only give $30 bucks a month to the collection plate. :)

Men used to worship the Gods. Now they worship a God and different religions have a different God. If they provide comfort or help people get by then more power to them. All of these Gods are as real as the Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy or Santa. Again, some believe in those… more power to them.

Jesus is real...not like Santa.
