Well from Russias point of view they were saying “no more”. Did the West not engineer an overthrow of the Yanukovych? We are fomenting unrest all over their sphere of influence. I am not necessarily opposed to that but don’t act the West was just minding their own business and Russia started attacking people.
Why should we want to be "friends" with an oligarchy that is basically "A gas station run by a mafia that is masquerading as a country"???

I’m not so sure the population was so enthused about aligning with the West pre-invasion. Clearly a different story now. Just don’t act like we were not over there stirring shit up to get our guys installed. And we were doing that to increase the influence of NATO and isolate Russia. I think that was wrong headed.
