To 6 years at 22.5 million, a jump from 2.1 to 3.5 million a year, plus a million for assistants in incremental raises.

For all the crap we give ISU, where would you rather live? A stones throw from Des Moines, or in the middle of god forsaken Nebraska. $3.5M is not too bad considering that ISU will be thrilled with consistent 7-5 records and an occasional 8-4 record. Long term job stability should be good there.

It’s a risky move on their part with that much money, but if it pays off, it really could be a culture change for their program.

I wonder if the buyout structure changed with the new contract? I would think that would be a smart move on his part

Suckers! Next year's club will not have a winning record and no bowl game Yes, it's just my opinion but look closely at ISU's stats. The seniors held much of the statistical production for this year's club at QB, WR, OL (left/ blind side), LB, DE and DB. Granted, David Montgomery, Hakeem Butler and Deshaunte Jones are due back next year but the QB situation could be major headache as Trailer Park battles Noland. Neither QB will have Lazard. Defenses will be geared to stop Montgomery's running game.

2018 IOWA STATE FOOTBALL SCHEDULE

Sept. 15 *OKLAHOMA LOSS
Sept. 22 AKRON WIN
Sept. 29 at *TCU LOSS

Oct. 27*TEXAS TECH WIN
Nov. 3 at *Kansas WIN
Nov. 10 *BAYLOR LOSS
Nov. 17 at *Texas LOSS
Nov. 24 *KANSAS STATE TOSS UP

Matt Ruhle will have Baylor in better shape next year. He is a good coach and recruiter. Texas kids understand how poor this season was with a bad culture at Baylor.

Yeah, 3.5 mill for 7-5 in year 2 should shut some traps around here for what KF gets paid after all he has accomplished by year 19 for what, not even 20% more $?

Perhaps you should compare Kirk's top 10 finishes, bowl wins, bcs/major bowl games, NFL draft picks, individual award winners, etc. with the entire history of ISU football and get back to us on this subject?

With all due respect , Omaha is not that far from Lincoln and Des Moines is not better than Omaha.

But ISU is paying for a coach that other people want. When is the last time anyone talked about KF?

ISU gives a nice raise and extension to a head coach who can't beat KF but could possibly swing some 6-7 win seasons and thus give Iowa's win at least a shred of cred? I'll take it.

Ya, fortunately will still play da games anyway lol

I remember this same story after Rhoads upset okie st and they were afraid he may get lured away and gave him a 10year extension and raise. Same thing and all we heard is how he was the next big thing and we know how that ended.

I personally think campbell moves on after 2 more years but I could easily see him missing a bowl one year but with his young age a bad season there won’t effect him too much.

Or Jim Walden’s win at Oklahoma

He goes 8-4 next year then 7-5. Then many Clone fans praising the new contract will want to replace him.

I think this is good for everyone. If he can make them respectable, at least we aren’t laughed at for losses to them. We win again next year either way, and the game two years from now will actually be a good matchup. By that time, true colors will have shined through and we will know if ISU has stability or a continuation of the turnstile.

Cheers Chicken Nugget Heads!!

I have to assume the buy out is way down now. Also, smart move for Campbell. ISU has 2 gimmes plus their Super Bowl OOC and the Big 12 is way down. Campbell should get 6-7 wins a year for sure. If not more. And nationally u go to Bowl games at ISU and he will still be young he will have his pick of jobs in the next couple years. Sorry ISU trolls but Ames will never be a destination job.

Your hyperbole is ridiculous. Barta is a good but not great AD. Look at the baseball team and where Fran has taken us considering where we were with Lickdicker.
