ISU Wrestling in an auditorium?

That looks pretty cool, the view of the ocean, the massiveness of the ship, the guns on the ship, the service personnel, the excitement of the crowd due to the location. That is indeed the sizzle that wrestling needs to keep pushing the sport.

Bingo, yahtzee, nailed it. Great descriptions.

I'm not looking for "steak" or looking for "sizzle", I asked you to describe what the sizzle was, or repeat what others told you the sizzle was. That is the thing about using "sizzle", it was a description of a sound made, but you aren't using it as that description, you are using to to describe the atmosphere, which I guess you can't describe in any other way. Did it succeed? Was 1,300 fans the goal? What would they have gotten otherwise? I really can't be more clear, and really you can't repeat yourself any more than you already have, this thread should be done. I've asked for descriptions, you are stuck on sizzle, let's move on.

And I've answered that question 6 times yet for some reason you keep asking me to answer it again.

At this point you have me believing your either my ex wife or an imbecile.

Ok........... Cool...........

So all we need to do then is get an Aircraft Carrier inside the Football Stadium and we got a Winner

Now that would sizzle, could probably even get some descriptions on what made it sizzle, rather than 'it was in an auditorium'

I don't understand the emotional reaction against this. I could understand people being indifferent, but why vehemently opposed?

Beat the Streets hosts a meet each spring and they specifically pick an unusual, high profile venue each year. I've attended meets on the deck of the Intrepid, inside a Grand Central Station, and in the middle of Times Square. It's fun, it gets some media attention, and even if you don't think it helps, it can't possibly hurt.

I love anything that makes things fun. Running a junior program I got a lot of resistance to anything that sounded vaguely fun. From walk-on music, to wrestling under a spotlight, to having cheerleaders, to convincing the HS coach to hold one meet in the basketball gym instead of the tiny wrestling room so we could have one meet with a big crowd. Why resist it? I don't understand.

I don't think people are vehemently against it. The amusement came when people asked what made it sizzle and were told 'it's an auditorium what don't you get' is Stephans historical? 'It's an auditorium what don't you get?' Is Stephans unique in some way? 'It's an auditorium what don't you get?' Look at the places you listed, built in sizzle for a variety of things. People wanted to know what made Stephans sizzle. Not against the event at all.

It is a metaphor used in sales. Here is a good description I found on the web

"It urged salespeople to focus on the experience around a product being sold rather than simply on the object itself. It means appealing to the senses and emotions of the buyer with the assumption that this is what motivates most people to purchase."

Stephens has a different look, feel, and sound than Hilton. It feels a little more upscale. You can buy beer, wine, and 'fancy' o-d'oeuvres. This is something you can sell to the fans once a year against a team like Rider over Thanksgiving break. The same size crowd at Hilton would have felt very small, but at Stephens it had moments where it was loud and exciting.

Thank you sir.

Yahtzee, again. I'm all for the event, especially since I wasn't going and actual view of the match didn't matter to me.

That is what people were looking for, not the 'it's an auditorium, what don't you get?' I was in at 'sells beer' if the the condescending jack wagons would have started with this it would have been a far shorter thread. As far as 'sizzle' goes, fairly solid understanding of the concept. Thank you for the explanation.

Dang. Beer and appetizers available in a venue with cushy seats able to watch what otherwise would be a shitty dual?! Sounds perfectly fine to me. Shaking my head at some of you Hawk fans.

Lol, I feel like the word sizzle needs its own thread to really dial in the meaning. Clearly debate worthy...

FFS the debate wasn't over the word sizzle, it was over what people liked about it. Ironically you just posted three things more than the "sizzle" poster did, and it was your first post. This could have been a very short thread.

Well ... if anything, the dual in the auditorium generated a 4-page thread on ISU's in-state rival's site ...

On a serious note, I say good for ISU. Shake things up a bit.
