Izzo post-game... whines as much as during

It's not only that but Luka was fouled most every time he touched the ball. If Tommy wants to do something teach his guys to quit grabbing and pushing.
the pushing is crazy, they would set up at 45 degree angles just to push. They hack and push every play and just rely on officials to get tired of calling them. Couple that with izzo's constant bitching and it's annoying as hell .

All you need to know about this guy is that he complained in the media when we fired Lick.

A couple comments about the video
  1. When is the Big Ten going to fine him for complaining about officials?
  2. Complaining about physical play by Iowa is unreal for a guy that has taken advantage of physical play and refs putting their whistles in their pockets for decades. He has always dared the refs to call 20+ fouls in a game knowing that they will stop late in the game. They were only called for 14 fouls each half. A couple of which were intentional at the end.
  3. Didn't listen to the whole thing, I heard him complain about one of our guys shooting better than normal. What about the rest of the team shooting like crap? What about their team shooting out of their minds for a bit? If we shoot our normal percentages we score at least 6 more points. If they shoot their normal percentages, they score 5 fewer points. And the game is 90-73.
  4. Complaining about not having players. Isn't his team stacked with 4 and 5 star players? He's had 3 three star recruits since the 2016 recruiting class, everyone else was 4 or 5 stars. We've had a total of 4 four star recruits during that same stretch(one was Tyler Cook who has been gone 2 years now), everyone else was a 3 star.
  5. He had 10 guys play 10 or more minutes last night. How many more players does he need? His freshmen played a combined 13 minutes. His sophomores played a combined 40 minutes. Our freshmen played a combined 46 minutes. Our sophomores played a combined 56 minutes. So, they had 147 minutes from upperclassmen and we had 98 minutes from upperclassmen.
Looking at point #5, on paper this game shouldn't have even been close, the other way. There's no way that a team getting over half of their minutes from underclassmen 3* players should have won a game against a team overwhelmingly playing upperclassmen 4* and 5* players.

unless of course the officials cost him the game (wink wink), dang... i think you just help make his point. lol

Tiny Tom Thumb seems to conveniently forget how the former bulldozers he had were allowed to run roughshod through the lane and steamroll our guys on their way to the basket, usually drawing fouls on us. Like others have said, his whining always seems to serve his purpose. He is the victim of atrocious officiating whenever they lose and it's all a preamble to our return game in tend days. Gotta love how in the middle of answering a question about a totally different subject, he would throw in little Garza digs. Tommy is such a martyr.

In the past many of the upper tier Big Ten coaches were commonly fawned over by the refs,.. Today's officials however, seem to be slightly less in awe of Mr. Izzo,.. Good thing.

Any chance the Big Ten fines Izzo for publicly complaining about the refs?

I didn’t think so

Thanks I didn't think I was crazy about that. NBA refs are just miles better than college ones about this. If the offensive player has a decided advantage they let the play continue for a bit in the NBA. In the cases. you talked about, if the foul impeded Garza's ability to catch it they would blow the whistle. But if not, they would let the play go and Garza scores the bucket. Then Izzo can just be upset at his big men getting worked rather than another grab foul.

I actually have no issue with that inside. My problem with college refs is how much they allow the defense to get away with on the perimeter, and honestly, the number of illegal screens they allow the offense.

That's where I wish they'd clean up the game, get rid of that crap outside, open up cuts and shooting lanes, let athletes be athletes.

That's why I greatly prefer the NBA, though that could be improved (looking at James Harden kicking legs out to draw fouls on 3s). But the product is SO MUCH better, free flowing, open court style, not MSU grind and grab style.

I don't know what Izzo is bitching at. For his entire tenure B10 refs have called games giving MSU ridiculous foul call advantages. Hell, if the refs had called fouls as they actually occurred last night then Michigan State would have been whistled for over 50 fouls. Izzo needs to recognize that the days of tackle basketball are over.

This is why I hate the argument that if the fouls are even, the reffing was good. It wasn't good if the fouls are even but one team "committed" twice as many. I guarantee everyone has seen at least one game where a team had a massive FT advantage and got screwed by the refs because they should have shot more.

Prepare to get fvcked over in East Lansing like usual.

Already absolutely counting on it.

They let MSU get away with most of their holding/grabbing/hacking last night - sorry, I meant "great defense" - in IC. So what will be allowed in EL will be straight up crimes against humanity.

Going to hate the game there, we better just put it in the ‘L’ column now and not risk any injury.
