I just can't see him at dline, the oline is where he can make his mark.In one recent article I read that the Duwa at center "experiment" was temporary. Not sure about that. May not here any more on that til spring practice.

I don't think James Daniels has decided yet, someone above said he will decide tomorrow. I think OP posted the title in a confusing wayNice to have him back. I don't understand any sentiment about him leaving early. He just doesn't look like an NFL center to me
Yea. Thread was created 2 weeks ago. The title is a sort of indirect imploring of Daniels to come back for next season.I don't think James Daniels has decided yet, someone above said he will decide tomorrow. I think OP posted the title in a confusing way
Fair enough.. when I saw it I got excited he was coming back but then i realized it was bumped from like 2 weeks ago so that makes sense.. hope Daniels stays a hawk, our oline could use his experience next yearYea. Josh Jackson did the right thing by going for the draft. I expect Daniels to do the right thing as well and stick around. It certainly seems he still has plenty of room for improvement.
Would you have stayed to get your BA degree if someone had walked up to you and offered you a 7 figure salary when you were a JR? Doubt it.Not trying to be contrarian, but how can any of us make a good judgment that he still has plenty of room for improvement? Or whether it's the "right" thing for him to do? Daniels had some inconsistencies, but he's also been hurt every year he's been here. His performance against Ohio State was dominant, and either Kiper or McShay had him as the 2nd draft-eligible center I believe.
If he's getting a 2nd to 4th round grade, he might decide it's time to start getting paid for whatever football life he has left. Centers generally aren't first-round picks. Even if he improves in college, that's not like to put him into the first round. He was an early enrollee so he might be able to graduate this spring/summer.
I hope like crazy he comes back for his last year, but if he doesn't I'll understand and wish him well. And won't question whether or not it's the right thing to do.
wouldn't that be enough to worry you about picking him?but he's also been hurt every year he's been here..
he's guaranteed millions already?Would you have stayed to get your BA degree if someone had walked up to you and offered you a 7 figure salary when you were a JR? Doubt it.
he's guaranteed millions already?
The 32nd pick in last season's draft got an 8.9 million dollar contract.Assuming he's been told that he's a likely 1st-3rd round pick, he's guaranteed millions. I'm going on the assumption that he's only entering the NFL draft because he's projected accordingly. If he's been told he won't be drafted and he leaves anyway, he's an idiot and should have stayed for his SR year.he's guaranteed millions already?
I think he'll stay as well. But nothing would surprise me.FWIW, his post-bowl interview suggested to me he is staying in that he said something to the effect that “this will help us next year”.., how old is he? He will be playing against true men next year if he goes to the NFL.
What makes you say that? I haven't been reading everything on the subject, so I assume I missed something?I think he is leaving and that our staff has a great feel on his position
Now hearing Friday, not Thursday, for Daniels' announcement.
If he gets confirmation that he's a third rounder or better, take the payday now.Not trying to be contrarian, but how can any of us make a good judgment that he still has plenty of room for improvement? I just don't see him in the top 3 rounds personally. Certainly not 1st round. The 32nd pick in last season's draft got an 8.9 million dollar contract.Assuming he's been told that he's a likely 1st-3rd round pick, he's guaranteed millions. Here's an article that lays out the contracts through the first 3 rounds.

2nd round is what he heard back from the NFL advisory board. If he gets confirmation that he's a third rounder or better, take the payday now.
Looks like they took that article down. Official announcement should come today or tomorrow.
