Jan Jensen = Angie Lee

Weaker, smaller, less athletic players are not going to get the calls. Get use to it.

Or perhaps there is a national conspiracy to screw Iowa over. It all started with Fran in Cedar Falls when UNI (with no money) paid off officials (one with final four experience) to screw over Iowa.

Such a tired and lame argument.

The National Conspiracy to Screw Iowa in Every Sport Alliance started way earlier that that. Think Jim Bain, maybe earlier. It truly is a tired and lame argument. So hard for some to see a game objectively.

There didn't seem to be as much ball movement all year, as in the past. I suppose that's different coaching.
Feeding the post was horrible all year, they always seemed to hesitate then still make a bad pass.
Too often going inside, the post doesn't even seem to consider a score, just looking to get it back out.
Always seem to have trouble with taller defense, don't adjust well
Going to miss having a 6 foot guard running the point to see over the top

I would say it has more to do with different personnel necessitated different coaching.

You can add Art White along with Jim Bain.

I am old enough to remember that. Before the internet and podcasts or even talk radio the Jim Bain story is incredible.

BS, as an official myself it doesn't matter a bit if somebody is weaker, smaller or less athletic calls are calls...only a complete idiot would think otherwise...

was it the reason they lost heck no they played like crap, but the officials made 100% sure Iowa didn't get a chance to get a run going with their idiot BS calls or no calls

With all due respect to you as an official of the game. I am going to disagree with you.

I would be interested in your take of the ending of the Maryland / Colorado State men's game (the final shot)

Jan had a bad gameplan and no adjustments when it was clearly not going to work. She's in over her head.

Yeah that Oklahoma coach was in way over her head yesterday too, smart observation. Hell she lost to South Carolina this year by 41, i’m shocked she even has a job… But hey, we’ve got Iowa fans that would like to have her… Oh wait until she loses lol

Scored 22 points since the first 3 minutes. Coaching is terrible.

Next year won’t be good the young players won’t magically fix this team.

If this program can’t capitalize on Clark they will never be elite.

The coach we should have is coaching circles around Jan right now. I’m getting dizzy watching it.

Yeah she rocked yesterday, oh wait, “gee, another ignorant, out of touch, comment by an Iowa fan😂 what a shocker….

Yes. A lot of hysteria.

Building a program post-Caitlin with a new coach is a process. We had a good year and we are moving in the right direction.

No need to panic.

We definitely have our quota of dumbasses on this board

That Jennie B
had a heck of a game plan.

Yeah, funny then had a bad one yesterday? I wonder why these coaches pick good game plans for some games and then bad ones for others……

Hmmmm, it’s almost like there’s more to it than that. Nah…,can’t be, it’s just bad coaching. You know how I know?!

The super dopes on the Iowa message board told me so, you know, the ones who couldn’t coach a person out of a burning building 😂

I was at the game. It was clear as day. The offensive gameplan was try force the ball inside to our 6'2 forward against a 6'5 defender or to drive off ball screen into the lane and try to dish in a congested lane.

The ONLY way Iowa has a chance in that game is to shoot threes in volume. But they kept forcing it inside. At one point I think they had 5 turnovers in a row.

Never did Iowa try to push the pace. Even when it was clear a half court game wasn't winnable.

Also, Jan decided to go to the Fran school of timeout hoarding and let the game get out of hand before calling one.

lol, buddy you couldn’t find your ass with both hands. You’re just another in a long line of shitheads on this board….

Tell me what was clear as day about the Oklahoma UCONN game?!

Jan was a lazy hire. She is a good "bigs" coach. that doesn't make you a good head coach. Worst part is, Baranczyk wanted the job.

She did it want a job yesterday 😂😂😂😂 I love pointing out stupid people

I’d go into immediate therapy if I were you, clearly you don’t know shit about coaching. The one you want lost by 25 yesterday and by 41 to South Carolina.

Incredibly impressed by Oklahoma. They were very good and aggressive at every position. We could have played them ten times and we would not have won once. Way mor athletic, skilled, and physical. I know this a knee jerk reaction but I'm not sure they don't beat our team from last year with Clark

Not even, I doubt your even an Iowa fan

If they fail to improve next year..... They will have failed to capitalize on all the momentum that CC created.

I'm not opposed to Jan being named the head coach, but I question how much they even looked at other candidates. Which isn't acceptable.

Didn’t need to, to anybody with an objective mind and ability to nit throw a fit when something doesn’t go the way they think it should would tell you Jan Jensen had a hell of a year and is easily a top 30-40 type Coach, in just her first year….

And after 25 years on this board and 40+ years of being a fan, here’s the key to being a good coach… You have to win 🤷‍♂️ because as soon as you lose, there’s about 15 to 20% of your fans will immediately tell everyone they can how bad you are.

No intelligence, no deep thinking, no introspection….just we’ve got a bad coach.

And I honestly think the key to the other people not reacting like that is because it’s really kind of embarrassing to be that reactionary

Jan did not have a good year. If Lucy Olson didn't come, we would not have made the tournament. We were plagued by turnovers and lack of rebounding, saw little improvement throughout the year.

They played like the eighth or 10th hardest schedule in the nation and won 23 games… Just put a sign outside your door. I’m the dumbest person alive or hell don’t bother. We all already know it.

Triggered much?

She had a bad gameplan of trying to force the ball into the paint against a team that overmatched us physically.

Then no adjustments in the half court. None. Didn't try to speed up the game with a full court press to change pace of play.

Just kept doing the same thing. Also played Heiden way too many minutes even though O'Grady matched up better in this game with her size. Didn't call timeouts when our girls were tired or when OU went on a run.

All around bad. Disagree if you wish.

Kinda reminds me of when Iowa trucked Ohio State in the B1G championship game back in '22-'23. Hawks won by 33 points against a pretty darn good Buckeye team (a Buckeye team that ultimately made it to the elite 8). It's easy to be disappointed by such a poor showing ... but that is the nature of competition. Sadly, sometimes you (or your team) puts up a dud. Does it mean that they were really that bad? They might have been that day ... but it's not (necessarily) a defining moment either.

No homer, that doesn’t happen, good coaches don’t lose games period, they only win, they especially don’t lose multiple games and never by 20 plays…..says no semi-intelligent sports fan ever….

And as a general rule, if you get any of these dopes down here below agreeing with what you say, you might want to seek intervention.

PS…. The job pays $850,000 a year, are you making that now? we’d love to have you as Coach so we can trash you every time you lose, by the way it will be every time you lose to because you know, good coaches never lose and I expect it will be a lot as it comes to you. 😂😂😂

Man are there a lot of ignorant, short sighted folks out there

It’s funny really?! When you talk about conspiracies, against Oklahoma we had the weaker smaller team, yet against USC we did not, then Oklahoma played UCONN and was weaker and smaller, and I’m assuming when UCONN lost to USC early in the year they were the weaker and smaller team 🤔

It’s almost like there’s a lot more to it than that….weird 😂

Bain was nothing. See ND's game against Iowa in 1953. Sounds like a wonderful time to be alive.

Jimmies and Joe's or Kimmies and Kaylas

Except of course when they lose, like to say USC who we beat…..seems like there must be a little bit more to coaching than fans think….

Who knew, maybe that’s why they are on message boards and not coaching 🤔

All the trolls coming out of the woodwork. Team was outmatched. If your issue is with the roster, that's on the last coach.

Meanwhile, Maryland fighting in OT to be the only conference team other than UCLA (and USC?) to be in the SW16.

Have a beer. See you in a thread during next year's tournament.

Its honestly disgusting, but that’s why I jack w/them 😂

One offs happen and we're thrilled when they do
In the long run you've got to have the players who match the opposition. Then it comes down to coaching and let's not forget in game coaching is a small part of a coach's job.

Except one offs happen all year, every year to every team ….🤷‍♂️ I mean really, when a South Carolina loses by 30 pts to anyone, it should be EXTREMELY clear how hard the job is and HOW MUCH is actually involved. Only fans over simplify it 🤓

Way to not even address anything I said and move the goalposts.

Of course every coach will lose. We could have lost that game against Oklahoma with a good gameplan. With a bad gameplan and no in game adjustments, we got blown out.

Not sure why you're so mad about anyone criticizing Jan. She didn't coach well. She deserves criticism.

The “goal post moved“ is the new way in which people who can’t debate try to shut down arguments, that crap don’t work with me….second of all. I’m not mad. I just don’t like idiots and folks like you are on every board throwing a fit when “their team” loses a game. Apparently Jen had a horrendous game the other day too and I know you’d like to have her as Coach so I’m waiting for you to explain how it happened… You can’t of course. You probably didn’t even watch the game and you would just regurgitate the same stupid shit you already have but that’s how folks like you are….

More often than not when a team loses especially when they get blown out it’s because their players unfortunately have a bad game… Pretty simple shit 🤷‍♂️ I mean not to idiots of course but to most of us normal folks it’s pretty simple

Moving the goalposts and ad hominem attacks are actually the definition of methods people use when they can't debate or think critically. You've done both.

Hopefully, Jan will improve as a coach. The current version was not great this season and awful in the tourney.

Stop….bad coaches don’t win 23 games vs a top 10 schedule. The coach you want lost by 41 & 25 and you are complaining about Iowas. 😂 I’d say you couldn’t find your ass w/both hands. And we certainly know you’d complain about the next coach as well.

When you gameplan to have 2 players go 0-13 between themselves, turn the ball over 20 times and let a team score 96 points your going to lose most games….

Buuuuuutttttt, no coach game plans for that to happen and here we are full circle in dumb fan zone of which you are king 🥳
