Joe T starting it appears....

Excited for this new era of Iowa basketball, plus the new class coming in. Going to be totally different than any of Frans other teams.
I am with you, it is going to be real fun. Hopefully we can get some good, raucous crowds in Carver this BIG season to get some tough W's needed to get to the Dance.

Rebounding has not been a strength so far this year, our guys really need to block out and go to the glass stronger!
Agree that rebounding isn’t a strength of this team. But they are currently rebounding 2 more/game than last year’s team. And this hasn’t been an easy preseason schedule. They’re actually doing well enough rebounding-wise to justify the 4G lineup.

This could actually be a minor benefit of JoeT getting more minutes. He’s shown a nose for the ball, and can get to rebounds much quicker than JBo. It may be only a fraction of a board/game, but that could make a season-long difference.

The real key going forward is health with basically a 7-man rotation and only spot players (Pemsl’s health) beyond that.

As much as sucks it losing Jbo at 75%, I would rather have JT out there this year. Our defense got better, offense will probably avg more TOs, and less 3s but I think we will have better opportunities with JT collapsing the D. As Iowa fans, we will have to be patient with JT and his freshman mistakes but it will be great to see how he grows from now until the end of the year.

This year a 75% JBo in the rotation has been rather valuable (10asts/0 TOs vs ISU). There will be growing pains with JoeT. But it does give some upside to this season, and certainly the next one. With the experience JoeT gets this year, Iowa’s guard court next year will be as deep as it’s been since the early 2000s- or even earlier than that when you consider Connor and JoeW.

I’m going to miss him, but that didn’t happen.

Okay, so that did happen against MINN at home which is still impressive...and I get your confusion since MN is Canada south and Iowa and ISU both have Iowa in their names.

Also noticed Luka will be wearing a mouth guard. Smart choice imo.

If you're going to wear one and be a badass, need to get creative.

Theres definitely something to be said for solid decision making, the zero turnovers are nice, but for the most part JBOs assists come from swinging the ball around the perimeter and feeding the post. Not difficult stuff.

JT can actually create easy buckets for others off the dribble.

Going forward I expect Iowas assists to increase but also turnovers.

The key will be when those turnovers take place. Joe T will need to under control and making his free throws in crunch time, something we became accustomed too with JBO.

Keeping an eye on JoeT’s A/T ratio. A/T has been a real strength of the team in general this year. Because of that, staying in the 2/1 range will be important for the primary ball handler.

I think it will be Evelyn's starting spot now....
That's all good for Joe T. He has plenty of time to grow into the position.

Experience matters. I like the idea of a senior being out there to start. Especially when they are shooting like that! Good D too.

He spilled a lot of paint tonight.

Happy feet and the excitement of starting in the United Center got the best of him. He needs to slow things down and let the game come to him - strike when the defense is distracted instead of constantly trying to make something happen.

TOs tonight were abysmal; that ain't gonna play in the B10, so JT and the rest are gonna need to figure that out w/o Captain Bohannon.

He was bad. Real bad. Tune up game before BIG hopefully gets some positives out of it and confidence heading into BIG play.

Still think there is huge upside with JT

Absolutely........I was one saying he is a freshman and people should exercise some patience.....I mentioned prior to tonight that his turnovers were the main concern....but, the kid has tons of ability and upside. He will learn and I think will be a very good player.

Agree, he has shown unteachable ability in flashes early games just fast for him now it'll slow down the he can show his quickness..

Perfect storm for JT, fell down numerous times, offensive fouls, turnovers, pass at BE's ankles. Just a bad night. I just dont think he realizes that he can play at 70% speed and still be one of the quickest out there.
Just think he's trying too hard to impress. The highlight reel passes. The crazy shoe combo's. We keep hearing in the broadcasts about he learned his game on the courts in Brooklyn. This is part of that culture. Its one of one upmanship. Its about putting on a show. Thats fine if you can have it under control, and we've seen some hints of how good it could be. If he does this in the conference games, Fran will have to have him on a short leash.
