Joey Kennedy to Iowa

FWIW...I suggest going direct to HWC with NIL contributions. SWARM is great and I give there too, but wrestling dollars are most effective when given to HWC in my humble opinion.

Seems to be paying off. 🙄
Quite well actually...as @SPOONER said, what would outer lineup be without the transfers we've landed?

If we can't recruit, we better be able to use NIL/HWC funds to get AA transfers.

Oh and welcome Joey Kennedy! Total thread derail!

Having all these younger brothers commit I believe shows a STRONG sign of the quality and chemistry of the program! For everyone claiming all the negative BS, I am pretty certain that having MULTIPLE sets of brothers committing puts that crap to rest!!!
Are you out of your mind? There will always be plenty of crap that will not be put to rest with the Hawks. Hawk crap has total insomnia and never sleeps or rests. It is what makes the cesspool such a tourist attraction!

IMO, this will ruin college wrestling. The NIL rules must be changed and enforced by someone other than the school's compliance office.

I know many schools are offering recruits a percentage of a scholarship and then picking up the rest of the u-bill through NIL. So, basically, there is no limit on the number of scholarships these schools have.

What happens to the mid-majors? Take UNI, Lock Haven, Wyoming. They can't possibly afford funding an unlimited number of student athletes. Good for Iowa picking up 157 and 165, but think about NDSU. You identify these athletes, develop them, they become AA's and leaders of your program. Then, BOOM! They leave.
Well, it's what's been happening at psu for decades now so at least it gives other schools an opportunity to compete without breaking rules.
That said I greatly dislike everything to do with NIL.

You know Im just playing, spooner is my buddy. They both seemed to be correct though, my money still goes directly to the HWC

It's only partly true, which means it is false. I'm a Swarm member and I CANNOT choose who my money goes to, and the same is true for a good % of Swarm members. Like I said, I was wrong to insinuate there's only one way to support Iowa wrestling via NIL. And I've now said it 3 times. 🤣 I also appreciated your correction and stated as much. That was before I realized you were being a dick about it.

What I don't appreciate is your crappy imitation of me. There have been some good ones on here over the years that I have enjoyed. But yours is just...bad.
See?! Out of his depth.

Thank you for indirectly proving the point I was trying to get across. You just described Spooner in one line. How any of you get enjoyment out of his style blows my mind. To each their own.
How you can assume that anyone here enjoys Spooners style blows my mind. That's a pretty big assumption. To each their own.

Not clearly seeing the math on this in cases where both guys are in the same household. Are you thinking student loan redistribution, so both have identical costs?
Hypothetical but the math would be the older brother was getting 65% before the younger brother got here. He gives up 10% so the younger brother can get the perks of being on a scholarship. So now the older brother gets 50% and the younger brother gets 10%. Essentially he is a walk-on but gets the perks of being on a scholarship. I have no idea if they do this type of thing anymore but it was something that was done in the past.

Not for nothing, how awesome of a wrestling name is Roy Rude?! I mean you have to call him “Ravishing” right?

That was my thought exactly. There has to be a lot of respect for the staff in that room to have two younger brothers coming in

I take this as a good sign that PK will be sticking around after this year. With the logjam that is 165-174 he could easily portal out and be the man at most Big 10 schools let alone anywhere else. Patrick is on fire and have full confidence that he reaches the podium this year at 174 come March.
I agree with MitchLL

Could it be that he and Caliendo have spoken and one of them is planning on making 157? Thus, opening 174 for Gabe Arnold?
Just a pipe dream?? That would be murders row and I would think all 3 would have a chance to wrestle on Saturday night at NCAA's. 165 will clear out a little. Carr, Amine & Olejnik are seniors

Kennedy looks pretty comfortable at 174, so I think 157 would be sucked down bad. He should’ve done it last year if he could. Caliendo looks jacked for 165. If Anthony Ferrari joins the team next year, and can still make 149 and be effective, will be a 4 way battle at 149, with Kennedy or caliendo at 157 would be salty line up from 149-174, but probably dreaming on a few levels. Rathjen still looks small and soft at 149, wonder if 141 would be doable cut for him??

I want to see where block slots in next year, he made 138 for Fargo and looked really good (even with the torn ACL)

Nope. You specifically said that Swarm was not part of NIL for wrestling and that’s not true.

I would have to ask Brad...but I doubt someone has donated above the threshold to Swarm and directed it to wrestling.

Wouldn't make sense. I could be wrong but I have not heard of a wrestler at a Swarm sponsored charity event.

The all sports was added for Beth so she could get behind Swarm.

He’s about 6 ft tall and maybe not done growing. Not going to have much muscle at 141, even though I’m sure the coaches recruited him for 141. He’s only listed at 149 on the roster.

I think Amine has another year left. Wonder if he would go 174 to make room for Mantanona at 65
