Sort of surprised. I've listened to him occasionally with Chris williams on Iowa everywhere podcasts, and yeah he had gone left but it still seemed like he could be pretty level headed.

My guess is he said some crazy stuff in an emotional rage, realized the Internet is forever and that he has posted some crazy stuff, and just thought better if it. I do think he has an ability to self-reflect.

There's a new a liberal social media site that I know a number of liberals have gone to as a safe space. I would guess he just stepped back though, he doesn't seem like the safe space type.

About 20 years ago he did a sports talk radio show in Des Moines with Steve Deace. Wasn’t great, wasn’t bad. They had pretty good on-air chemistry.

He also did SoundOff with Jim Zabel after Iowa football games. Also ran a Hawkeye website back in that same timeframe, which was pretty good at the time. Not sure why or what happened exactly, but I remember switching to Kakert’s Hawkeye site, which is now this one.

Actually I believe Josh Clark on superhawkeye.com was the first one. He was a youngster but definitely had a recruiting in with the program. Miller took over the site after that and changed the name to Hawkeye Nation.

I post very little on facebook or social media of my political beliefs. I am willing to discuss at work, if someone else first brings up the topic, but in general I avoid it. Hawksnestonline.com pre-dated superhawkeye (Josh Clark was involved with Hawksnest I think as well). The Big Ten Forums were the OG before both of these, coming up on 30 years ago.

When I was still working we usually avoided talking politics, but sometimes it would come up and both sides could express their thoughts without fear of the ramifications. That was before Trump. Now I would avoid talking politics at work completely, the climate is so different.
