Here’s MY answer. Wanting to see how a player reacts to being benched is different than being “concerned about his feelings”. Does he get pissed? Does he pout? How will react to a “demotion” to say special teams or special situations? Will he bring the same energy as when he was a starter? Will it motivate him to be better? I had to bench a lot of players coaching DIII and if wanting the answers to these questions means “caring about a player’s feeling” then yes I care about Jone’s feelings.
