Keegan/Kris question

A friend of mine says that Kenyon Murray insisted to schools that if they wanted Keegan, they also had to take Kris, kind of a package deal. Any truth to that or is he blowing hot air?
If you look at their prep school stats both twins deserved a scholarship.

Thanks for setting the record straight Kenyon.

I said in another thread that Kris needs all the minutes he can get before the schedule gets tougher. With Patrick down tonight, Kris didn't disappoint. 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assist in 17 minutes. Great job Kris! I hope we see him get at least that many minutes every night.

I am just in awe of how both Murray's play the game so effortlessly. They are both so silky smooth with everything they do on the court.

He's gonna need many Virginia minutes!

I know they’re different players but I still have a feeling of calmness when I see either of them shoot. It just feels like the ball should always go in.

Kenyon,
How did you enjoy playing with JBo? It must give you great joy to see JBo finally play with your boys and, in the process, take over the top of the list of Big 10 all-time three point shooters. Long time coming for him.

They are very similar, complement each other, but I would say Kris is better in the mid-range and is more of a "scorer" than a "shooter". Kris is crazy smart and sometimes overthinks things, but time on the floor will be the best thing. I believe with the way the team is constructed this year, he will have a chance to surpass what Keegan did last year as a compliment to everyone on the floor.
My favorite thing about Keegan (and Kris is definitely showing the same this year) is that he just seems so even keel. They’re both smooth athletically and they’re where they need to be. As a fan, I do love seeing emotion on the court, but that’s not been their game so far and it is a positive to just see them go do their thing, whether things are going well or not. It’s been fun watching Keegan’s confidence grow and I hope we get to see the same out of Kris this year as the season goes on.

That is what I am seeing as the current difference between the brothers. Keegan looks and plays like the best player in the building. Kris looks and acts like he could be, but does not quite believe it yet. He will get there though. Give Kris time. Both young men will be well remembered long after their playing time at Iowa is past. Kenyon and his wife should be very proud of their sons.

Never did I say that. So whoever told you that is definitely not in my “proximity circle”. Just ask me straight up and I will tell you.
Funny enough, I don't see any real difference between Keegan and Kris in regards to physical skills on the court. Instead, the difference between them is in their mentalities. Keegan just goes for it, confident that he will make something happen with his skills and Kris just has this slight hesitation that dooms him from being just as good as his brother on the court. If Kris can just trust himself on the court as Keegan does he will explode into an all-American and potential NBA draft pick.

I was hoping that we could find out if said friend of the OP also saw Matt Roth moving his refrigerator.

Or if Lois went to his cousin's high school.

As the hype train justifiably grows, I can’t help but remember how many of the people on the board were upset when Fran offered them. It’s going to be a fun ride watching both of them in a Hawkeye uniform but let’s not put unrealistic expectations on either of them. Luka and Joe W proved to us that it takes more then two guys to dominate. As the season goes forward there’s a good chance that lack of size and outside shooting will come back and haunt the team. Remember the football teams concerns about the o-line?

I hope an increased focus by other teams on Keegan doesn’t slow him down. On the development side I’d like to see both of them hit the defensive boards a bit harder.

Regardless they both seem to be great kids and it will be a joy to watch them the next few seasons. We are lucky they are Hawkeyes.

No, but he does have a nephew, Cory Wong, a jazz guitarist who plays with Prince's rhythm section.

I believe Kenyon has said here that Kris is more of a "thinker", which early in a career can result in a bit of hesitation. Floor time and confidence will hopefully take care of that.

Is that the Roth? 31... Rather tough sort. Heard him on Pat Harty's podcast several years ago. Has sons. Want them on our FB team. Matt talks quite well. As always go Hawks players and us fans
