The culture needs to change. They stood there and didn't react. If we want it to change, the expected reaction needs to be that the one cops behavior is so out of line he no longer gets to be treated like he is above the law. When he punched the guy, he's a criminal.
I should have phrased it that the only way to fix this is we decide all the cops should be fired in this scenario. Good cops do what's right even when it's difficult.
I agree with your overall sentiment but I can almost 100% guarantee all of the other cops wanted to light the guy up also, they just had better restraint. We are talking about humans here and not robots.
If some idiot in a gurney calling names makes you "want to light the guy up" you're in the wrong business and probably need some therapy.

First, I doubt he actually spit on him. The cheap shot cop wasn't even in the frame. Secondly, a police officer should have more constraint than showed in the clip, especially being the guy was already in a gurney. Charge him for spitting in your direction, if you are so bothered by it. Otherwise, STFU and do your job. Beating people isn't part of it, that's assault. I'm not sure why you think it is OK to hit someone like that. Are you still in HS?

The only way to clean this kind of thing up is by holding police responsible for their actions. Make them carry liability insurance just like other professionals. When they become uninsurable, they can start pulling boxes in an Amazon warehouse. .
Exactly. Most of these guys have been working forced overtime in a stressful environment.

PS We also have NO clue what led up to this. He could have been on a long dangerous high pursuit. The officer's mom could be dying of cancer. Could be a guy with PTSD from combat. Who knows! But most people just love to jump to conclusions without knowing any facts.
You can also do the math that some cops are just pricks looking to rough people up when there is any sign of dissidence.

Nope. I do think police officers should have the ability to have a little self control. In this case a bunch of them did, and one didn't.

This. He came in from out of the frame. I'm guessing he was involved in an earlier confrontation or in the arrest of the man. Zero reason to come in later on and punch a man who is laying down. He is out of control.
