This is my first post on here so I will try and make it short and to the point.

Let us lay low. No buzz is good buzz for the Hawks. Let the press scratch their heads and whatever else trying to make heads or tails of this team. I like it that way!

Be a good fan, be realistic, and support the guys at all costs. Those are the 3 things I have taken from my brother in law who played for Ferentz. Stay the course and enjoy the ride!

I can get behind that. But i do not have to support Ferentz at all cost. Always will support a player in a hawkeye uniform

It wouldn't surprise me if this season turns out to be pretty solid. Seems like the Hawks perform better when there are zero expectations. It's a weird phenomenon.

If that were true we'd be in the running for the National Title this year. The team formerly known as Iowa did have a time when they played better with less expectations, but they couldn't possibly be any lower than they are right now. 5 years of not sniffing the rankings will do that...................

BS! 2013 they were as low as I have seen them on this board. Coming off a 4-8 season, there were very few people that thought we would win 6 games that year. Couldn't possibly be lower? Give me a break.

i think i would agree, if ever there was a year that expectations were next to nil it would have to be 2013. starting qb with absolutely no experience, losing to isu and central mich the year before, no clear rb. the only positive thing we had going for us was the lb crew, 3 sr's.

As with many teams, it'll come down to the O-Line. Beathard's got some talent but he's gonna need some time in the pocket. LeShun Daniels has some Shonn Greene qualities but he's gonna need a few holes to run through. There are a lot of question marks up front but, if our line steps up and answers those questions, we might be in for a pretty fun season.

We have one of the weakest 2 year schedules in the history of organized football. The first year produced a sterling 7-6 record (that would be 6-6 against Big Boy schools) and throttling of epic proportions in a (cough, cough) Bowl Game to a 6-6 team full of freshmen, that was over before halftime, and should have been called off then. We didn't beat a Big Boy school with a winning record, home or away.

There are plenty that aren't sure if we get to 6 wins with the "killer schedule" in play. Yeah, expectations are brimming! LOL!

We didn't have 5 straight years of not sniffing a ranking in 2013 either. Now we do.

In summary: Thank God for Drakes schedule, so the mirage can continue for another year, and keep those "expectations" high. LOL!.

I choose to remain positive until I can't be. We have a real opportunity to have an excellent season. We also have a real possibility to have a bad season. I will hope for 2009 type special until I can't anymore.

Agreed, Suterman. With the way the schedule sets up, most of the games are going to be close. None of us are expecting the Hawks to be Oregon out there, but theres no reason they can't have a solid season. And of course they could also have a poor season, but let it play out before announcing it a bust.

Daniels isn't in the same stratosphere as SG in any of the skills that matter on a football field.
