I was not able to watch the match. For someone who did, what was your analysis? Yes I hear people saying he was robbed, but I am surprised it even was that close to begin with, especially after what he did to Russell.

Did Lee just wrestle a terrible match? Everyone says he will destroy Bresser in a rematch. Prople also say now that he lost, he should redshirt. Could you notice his knee bothering him, or do people just want him to redshirt to preserve a undefeated college career?

Also I have not heard Brands or Lee make any statements after the match. No comment on it? If so, where can I find it?

Don't think there have been any comments from Spencer or Tom, and I doubt we see many, if any, publicly. I wasn't able to watch, either, but I'll throw out what I've gathered, at least. . . .

Sounds like Bresser was staying out of ties most of the match, bobbing and weaving, faking a lot, but not really initiating any offense at all. Spencer chased him around the mat most of the time. Tough to score on a guy who's staying out of ties and not really presenting himself. Spencer escaped easily and rode him for about 1:45. Got scored on at the very end, then appeared to have a reversal in the final seconds but it wasn't awarded.

I suspect Spencer would win the rematch, and depending on how it was called, maybe quite decisively. But Bresser is no slouch, and his style is tough. Fix struggled with him, too. Hard to score on a guy who stays away like that and doesn't take risk to score from his feet -- especially if the refs allow it without stalling calls.

Bresser took one legitimate low shot to start the match and was in deep. Spencer was able to keep leg back and use his flexibility to fend it off. Rest of first period was Bresser backing up bobbing and weaving, only tieing up briefly at the edge. Spencer escaped easy and more of the same. 3rd period Spencer rode nearly entire period but imo needed to get off to the side and attempt his bar series but seemed content with fishing for the arm trap turn that he turns almost everybody with. Bresser sat out at the end and Spencer attempted a high risk step over his arm with his leg that just wasn’t there or smart. This put Bresser in double underhooks position when he stood up. Spencer backed his hips out but Bresser hit nice trip for 2. End was very controversial. Spencer frantically scrambled and tried to free his arm, holding Bresser on his back. No reversal or neutral awarded. Imo at very least it was stall on top and restart and, more appropriately loss of control. Perfect storm.

Most people were saying Spencer had two reversal and two backpoints...But Spencer put himself in that situation. His knee wasn't the problem, just bad decision-making. Bet he would agree.

Saw the match and the above descriptions are accurate. The part where Bresser got in deep was a little concerning to me. Iirc, the good leg was grabbed and lifted, with Spencer bouncing on the braced one briefly, and doing the splits.

Seen a lot of Spencer's matches and he does a pretty good Nico when he needs to. Must be a FR thing because Kemerer is pretty limber as well.

If Lee is healthy, people need to relax. Bresser is good. He gave Suriano fits as well. This is nothing but a learning curve. The next time Lee dominates.

i was wondering about that. i thought lee should not have had any problem with bresser because he should be working with delgado some of the time.

I don't know about dominates, but I think he could definitely win the next one. Bresser has now established himself as a real talent at 125, to discount him is only going to lead to added frustration if/when he succeeds. Lee could have gotten the 2, but the situation was iffy and the ref decided no loss of control in the exchange. Lee will learn from his rookie mistake and improve. I think Lee is going to look like David Taylor when he is wrestling someone a level below him, teching or pinning the majority of the guys he goes against. We've seen how Taylor shuts down a bit against guys like Dark and Burroughs and I think Spencer may experience some of the same. Either way the kid is in good shape and I am confident he will have at least a title or two by the time he graduates from Iowa.

Delgado is not in the room any longer. Hasn’t been for some time now.

Bresser wrestles a lot like Burroughs. Moves in and out, side to side, up and down. He strikes from those positions by getting his opponents out of position when moving. When he gets tied up he wants nothing to do with it and goes on defense. Give Bresser credit he has developed his style and can stay in it with the best. Suriano also had trouble. Lee needs to beat Bresser on the top. I think he will next go with him.

BTW - I really wanted to see Lee & Suriano. That would have been more of a gauge of where Lee is. Just watching him he is the real deal. No wasted movements. Absolutely controls ties with his hand strength. On top no one is better that I have seen. If I were the coach I would pull the shirt.

One last thing unrelated. I sure wish we still had Gross. That guy was fun to watch.

The second day of the tourney could have bothered his knee. He is only 8 months or so off surgery. His knee could have been still or sore. 95% health can get anyone in trouble at that level.

I thought Bresser wrestled a lot like J.O. did against Metcalf a couple times. Heavy push/post on the shoulder to create distance.

then when he did that and shot a low single i was like 'ok, this is his plan'.

but after that im not sure he attempted another shot.

to be sure though - Bresser is a tough out, and his plan wasn't bad.
