The new system is greatly improved in the "ignore" department. I only have four people honored in that manner -- with guys like this one, I prefer to watch them, sort of like watching a car wreck -- but under the new system, when you ignore somebody, you really ignore him/her. You don't see any evidence of the ignored poster's existence. In the old system, if somebody else quoted the ignored person, you saw the quote when you opened the quoter's post.
To answer your specific question, if you put someone on "ignore" it doesn't alter their function at all. In other words, if you put LC on "ignore," I could still quote your posts. But you wouldn't know it because you wouldn't see my post quoting yours.
