I don't think there's any question that Nebby is the best 6-loss team in the country.
Taking the lemons and making lemonade ;-)

Every time I watch a Nebraska game this year, I spend most of the time thinking, "Is this Mike Reilly thing serious?"
What does this guy do??? Every time he is shown on TV, he's standing there with his hands in his coat pockets, not talking to anyone, not doing anything.... At one point today with 3 minutes or so to go, he had taken his headset off and was just holding it in his hands, and looked like there were a million other places he would rather be. I'm no expert on body language, but wow did he look like a guy today that either is having serious regrets, or already knows he's canned after the season.
I hope they keep him for a long time. He is their Lickliter.
If the analysis involved "playoffs or nothing," I'd agree. But that's not the end analysis. Not even close. There's a game in Pasadena that Iowa hasn't seen since 1991. Call me crazy, but that's an awfully attractive consolation prize.
And, let's face reality, the decision between a one-loss Iowa team and a one-loss MSU or OSU will have a lot to do with whose resume is more impressive.
If you can't see that, I've got nothing to add.
What's frustrating is that you know their record is not indicative of their talent.
I see your point, but I'm not an old dude that still thinks the rose is the ultimate destination. The landscape of college football has changed. IMO winning the BIG matters and making the playoffs matters. Beyond that, don't really care what bowl we get. The bowls are a joke, jmo.
I think you're right. If I was Eichorst I'd say screw keeping my job, I'd get out of town to save my life!!I read one Neb poster on another site mention the prospect of major offseason changes this year for the Huskers. If they decide to flush the Riley experiment, this might be the worst year to do such a thing. There are so many major openings already (IL, MN, MD, USC, SC, VT, Miami, UCF) and several more on the horizon (possibly, Purdue, Indiana, KSU, Georgia) - that if you thrown Nebraska into that mix, the market for a big-name hire just isn't going to be very favorable for them.
I think they might be forced to take in another year with Riley...I wasn't around for the dark ages of Iowa football, but we might be witnessing their version of Commings/Lauterbur (history in the making).
