*****MAGA in disarray, who will be speaker of the House***** McCarthy REMOVED! Jim Jordan 0-3. Election denier Mike Johnson confirmed. Vote them out

I did a double take listening to NPR this morning. They had some Republican from Missouri on, and he said the caucus will meet on Tuesday, and then vote on Wednesday to elect a new Speaker. I thought the interview had been recorded yesterday, and the dates were confused.
Nope. The House is off until next Tuesday. Way to go GOP. That’s leadership for you. Someone had better alert Coffland14 so he can wind up his outrage machine.

Just stating facts. That's what happened.

The R's are a shit show...no argument. But don't bitch about having another speaker fight when all the D's voted for it. It is what it is....
The Democrats said from the beginning that it's not their problem and it's up to the GOP to elect their own leader. Now, if McCarthy had kept his word with them like he did with Margie Three Toes, they may have been more receptive to helping him out with a vote or 10.

Because there is a tradition in the house that has been followed up until now to let former speakers who are still in the house maintain a hideaway office in the capitol.

McCarthy was keeping to that tradition.

But MAGA is looking to erase every tradition of mutual respect.
Yes, Pelosi let Hastert stay... A reminder on Hastert and the GQP projection:

That's fair. It wasn't the D's responsibility to save McCarthy.

But here we are.

McCarthy made his own bed by acquiescing to the "one dipshit" can tank the speaker rule.

My main concern is this whole thing puts continued Ukraine support in serious doubt. Gaetz basically made Ukraine aid his predicate for tossing McCarthy. It's why he and his crew voted down McCarthy's original CR last week.

McCarthy need D votes to keep his job...

Gaetz needed pretty much all the D's on board to toss him.
'
Gaetz won. He got what he wanted...

Here's a fact for u the leader of the GOP is out on bond in 4 districts. For 91 felony counts.
It's not an accident he is the leader. Every GQP member use this to show their support for the traitorous insurrection that happened on January 6th.

The Dems saved him to avoid a shutdown as they all voted with him and the first thing he does on the weekend shows is blame the Dems. Garbage, and this is a GOP disaster, period.

They’re at least smart enough enough (barely) to realize they need to try to avoid the embarrassment of 15 votes again. Wonder if Vegas is opening a line on how many votes they’ll need to elect the speaker this time.

Gaetz and 7 of his cronies plus all the D's voted for this.
love how you just gloss over the fact that this doesn’t happen without the motion to vacate.

What R isn't going to "blame" D's chis?

It's SOP....

My thing is.....is the current situation we're in (no speaker and probably another protracted speaker fight) better for the country or McCartHy keeping his job?

I'd vote the McCarthy keeping his job.

Then McCarthy should have cut the deal over the weekend with the 8 democrats he met with. But decided being Maga is better for staying elected in Bakersfield

Well Gaetz and crew couldn't do it without almost all D's on board.

It is what it is....

Dude. Just stop. This was all put in motion with the leadership votes and concessions made in January 2023: deals and concessions that McCarthy made with his own caucus. The responsibility sits with the House GOP and the House GOP only.

As Taylor Swift says: I keep my side of the street clean…you wouldn’t know what that mean.

The country is in bad shape either way with these clowns as the majority. The Dems just strengthened themselves to likely end that on Jan 2025

so, the guy that KNOWS his job is on the line, KNOWS he’s going to need help from the other side to keep it, but throws them under the bus anyway; not to mention has not shown himself to be trustworthy or at all capable of controlling his caucus AND unilaterally opened an impeachment inquiry of POTUS…you think the Dems should have fought for THAT guy?

id get your point if McCarthy had shown any inkling of working with Dems…but he hasn’t, and without him offering any concessions - the bare minimum of which should have been putting Schiff and Swalwell back on their committees, how could they put any trust in anything else he says?

this entire situation was totally predictable once McCarthy won the speakership after making every possible concession.

He’s hell bent on blaming Ds. Another conservative that doesn’t believe in personal responsibility.

Well....I hope you like the replacement.

It ain't gonna be Jeffries.

Common theme.

- Dem’s (Pelosi) were responsible for J6

- Dem’s responsible for Trump’s indictments

- Dem’s responsible for almost shutting down the government last week

The party of individual responsibility sure is something to behold these days.
