*****MAGA in disarray, who will be speaker of the House***** McCarthy REMOVED! Jim Jordan 0-3. Election denier Mike Johnson confirmed. Vote them out

What R isn't going to "blame" D's chis?

It's SOP....

My thing is.....is the current situation we're in (no speaker and probably another protracted speaker fight) better for the country or McCartHy keeping his job?

I'd vote the McCarthy keeping his job.
I wouldn't. Kevin was really really bad at his job. He took every deadline to the edge and we were only stopped because the Dems had to pull us back. We are better off without incompetence like this.

Hope you like the replacement.

That's fair. It wasn't the D's responsibility to save McCarthy.

But here we are.

McCarthy made his own bed by acquiescing to the "one dipshit" can tank the speaker rule.

My main concern is this whole thing puts continued Ukraine support in serious doubt. Gaetz basically made Ukraine aid his predicate for tossing McCarthy. It's why he and his crew voted down McCarthy's original CR last week.

McCarthy need D votes to keep his job...

Gaetz needed pretty much all the D's on board to toss him.
'
Gaetz won. He got what he wanted...

But now, Gaetz and his faction are only eight members deep. While they were successful in getting McCarthy out, I doubt they'll have the votes to install the Speaker of their choice.

So that's your threat? Keep Kevin because his replacement will be even worse? How about this? Stop voting Republican. It's clear they can't lead.
Just dealing with reality Huey.

No R will take the Speaker of the House job with the "one idiot can bring up the vote to vacate rule" in place.

Only way Gaetz and crew agree to that is if the new speaker is a no on Ukraine.

Which has been my main concern in this whole shit show.

We'll see....but from my perspective the replacement is pretty likely to be worse on the matter of Ukraine.

They have the votes to block any speaker they don't want....aka any pro Ukraine speaker.

Republicans will have to own the replacement come election time.

Yet as we see with your responses, it is always the D’s fault that McCarthy couldnt control his caucus
Not the D's fault.

They weren't forced to vote with Matt Gaetz though.

It was a political decision and I understand that. I just think when all is said and done we'll end up with someone worse on Ukriane which is may main concern.

Well....I hope you like the replacement.

It ain't gonna be Jeffries.

Duh. But you keep glossing over that this was inevitable, precisely because McCarthy was unwilling to deal with Dems in good faith.

Exactly, this was always going to happen.

If the R's nominate a centrist, they might actually get some Dem votes to clean the mess up.

But they won't. Because the extremists are who are controlling their party and their voters.

This represented a golden chance for McCarthy to rally the majority of his caucus against Gaetz, MTG and the radicals. Cut a deal with Dems, offer some policy concessions and actually be the Speaker. Rather than the feckless puppet he actually was.

Instead he established that he is possibly the worst Speaker in American history.

This is the reality. If R’s really wanted out of this shit show they’d be reaching across the aisle to find a solution that can nullify the loony tunes. As much as @binsfeldcyhawk2 wants to make it the D’s problem, the R’s could likely make the Freedom Caucus a non-issue if they’d be willing to negotiate. And if I were the R’s - taking away those dip shit's power would be worth every concession.

How? Ukraine got no funding in the last bill. What's worse then? The Rs funding Putin?

Fair.

Unfortunately by polling data they won't take much of a hit. If Ukraine support polling continues to decline they may take no hit in 2024.

If Fox gets hit by the second defamation suit and dies off, and the lessons sink into to other sewer networks, the airways will clear of much of the propaganda and lies that have permeated society.

There was funding in the CR that Gaetz and crew tanked last week.

Kind of wish this article came out a couple days ago...

The dramatic ouster of U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has raised questions about the future of the country’s supply of aid to Ukraine.

McCarthy, who has previously backed U.S. support for Ukraine, was removed in a no confidence vote led by members of his own party on Tuesday.

That comes amid a growing divide within the Republican party over the continuation of U.S. aid. The U.S. is by far the biggest provider of military aid to Ukraine.

Lawmakers earlier in the week suggested McCarthy arranged a standalone vote on Ukrainian aid with President Joe Biden in order to pass a government spending bill which did not contain provisions. McCarthy denied there had been a so-called “secret side deal.”

“President Biden made clear we cannot, under any circumstances, allow America’s support for Ukraine to be interrupted,” White House national security spokesperson John Kirby told reporters, according to a Reuters report. He was referring to Biden’s call with allied leaders Tuesday.
