Marc Thiessen: If Biden wants to get more shots in arms, give Trump credit for the vaccines...

An argument could be made, based on what we know about Trump, that he was asked but wanted a quid pro quo and was turned down.
The Ad Council's PSA of the former presidents was filmed at Biden's inauguration. Guess who refused, like a petulant child, to attend that event? Trump wasn't asked because he wasn't there. Meanwhile, Obama has released his own PSA with Shaq and Sir Charles. No invite necessary. Trump could do the same (but not on Twitter ;) )

Trump was asked by Chelsea Clinton to release pics of him being vaccinated...so there's an invite. Has anyone seen those pics?

I've already seen a clip of him telling people to get the vaccine, months ago. But it sure as hell didn't get a lot of air time.

70+ million people voted for that idiot. And we know he loves the spotlight. Give credit where credit is due and ask him to record a public announcement.

And how about the other side stop acting like kids too, ala Kamala Harris saying she wouldn't take the vaccine if Trump said to?

You really think Trump is going to help Biden by recording a PSA??

If Trump really cared about this country he would be harping on getting the vaccine at his rallies.

And Harris said she would take the vaccine if the doctors said it was safe but not if Trump said it was safe. Pretty key distinction. Trump told people to inject themselves with bleach to cure COVID, so one can't exactly blame her or anyone for not trusting his medical expertise.

It’s no wonder people don’t trust the ‘experts’ - brazen lying, incompetence and arrogance.

January 6th has nothing to do with it. Biden will never give Trump credit for anything because if he did, he would be primaried in 2024. Trump must be painted as the worst human to have ever set foot on the face of the Earth and anything less is unacceptable. Granted, Trump isn't far from it, but even suggesting Trump got something right is damaging to a Democrat's political career.
The war machine put in place to battle the virus and make a vaccine in breakneck speed was developed and put into place over a decade ago. Trump was largely irrelevant to that process.

rump won't do a PSA because he can't profit off it.

Trump sued social media companies and at the same time as the press conference his fundraisers are hitting everyone up for donations "to fight for their First Amendment rights". And by legal fees, he means his pocket.

This is the key. All first hand reports describe the Trump Admin’s “finish line” was getting the vaccines approved. They had no plan for manufacture or distribution. I even read that at one point, Jared and Trump were working on a “reality competition” between states to see who got the most vaccines, and who didn’t.
Weird how I got mine in December when Trump was still President at a very busy and well orchestrated vaccine site

How about we do whatever it takes to get these idiots to get vaccinated. The longer they don't, the more the virus mutates, and the better chance of us sane people that got vaccinated will be vulnerable again.
Shhhhhhhh this is about gotcha politics, don’t try to bring common sense for the common good into this discussion

This whole dynamic is just so strange... Pathetic really.

Trump made the vaccine happen. Everyone with a brain knows it.

Dems all said they weren't taking it.

Rs hailed Trump's leadership in getting it done so quickly.

Biden wins

Biden wants all the credit and Dems are suddenly all about the vaccine while Rs flipped and now are more likely to resist it than Ds.

I understand your politics influencing who you think should pay for healthcare and how much should be covered. I don't understand politics determining how you address your own health, or an election result changing your mind.

The election had literally nothing to do with how the vaccine was developed or what the make-up of it was. It's no more or less safe if you take the shot under Biden than it would have been under Trump.

It's just odd. At least everyone who wants one has had the opportunity to get one. At that point does any of the rest really matter?

Nope,.. In this country, any adult that hasn't yet accepted the vaccine very likely never will so let's just move on...

Now go back and fact check Trump telling people to inject bleach into themselves. While you're at it, go fact check the claim that he said Covid-19 was a Hoax.

Don't be so one-sided.

Don't be so one-sided.

He asked a doctor if injecting people with disinfectant would help with COVID.

Maybe he didn't tell people specifically to inject themselves with bleach but regardless it was ridiculously dumb.

Pfizer calls bullshit on your statement.

And the woman who figured out mRNA technology is the one who "made the vaccine happen". You should really educate yourself more, and lick Trump's butthole less.

Maybe? Maybe? You said he told people to inject themselves with bleach. That lie just keeps getting retold over and over, and you bought into it. Is it stupid, hell yes it was. I'm not arguing that he was a good President or smart in all areas. I just cringe every time I see or hear someone say things like you did that just aren't true.

I am sure your vaccination site was well-run. Doesn’t change the fact that the rollout lagged well behind that of the projections provided by the Trump administration.

So we’ve turned to arguing about the rollout now and moved past whether his administration should get credit for fast tracking vaccines?

And yet, somehow, after he said that we started seeing stories about people using bleach.

Jan, respectfully, this is the dumb part of the argument here. There are countless examples of things Trump didn’t say exactly, but he spoke so vaguely or gave such incoherent responses at times that you can take whatever you want out of anything he said. And then others can say, well he didn’t say that exactly….

in context, from the WH press room, the President openly discussed the efficacy of bleach and disinfectant as a treatment option. just him saying that in that setting provides a lot of weight for many people. POTUS, more than almost anyone else in the world, has to choose their words more carefully.

Fast-tracking the vaccine process is something that any administration would have done ( I would think) during an epidemic. the rollout of the vaccine has been documented to have been slow, mismanaged, and in general not handled well by Trump and co. If nothing else, look up their early vaccination goals and see how far short they came of those.

Bidens people are on record saying how little in the way of plans they had when they took over.

*sigh* Biden gave his admin credit when Biden was publicly vaccinated. What more would you like? Are you going to argue that the Pfizer vaccine was in any way a result of Trump? Because that would be a lie - Pfizer didn't participate in Warp Speed. And if you're going to argue that the Trump "roll out" wasn't...deficient...there's nothing more to talk about because that would be a lie on top of a lie.
