Apparently We paid $1.5 million in NIL for a roster of little boys that were no match for Illiniois on the boards or defending. I give the Iowa Player's a ton of credit for playing hard/shooting so well vs Illini, but at some point you need enough muscle, athleticism, toughness, to go out and get a rebound.
There is little doubt that the supposed uptick in recent FRan recruiting was NIL based and the guys he got were only signable because Revenue sharing will increase Iowa's NILL budget by 2.5 million or so per the B1G agreement.
The new coach will be able to retain any of Fran's guys he wants that are driven by NIL---I would say that is all of Fran's class.
I agree, it will be wildly exciting to see who stays, goes, and what new guys the new coach finds. Fran was clearly going to botch next year---almost zero guard talent on the squad assuming Dix is gone.
Freeman shutting down for a pinky---if he was getting NIL, the Swarm should be canceling payment on any checks in the mail.
I would love to see some of the Hawks back. Some of them need to play for their schollie though, because their open market NIL value is not much. Work harder if you want more money. Good lesson for life.
MSU's guards Eric Snow who was a good NBA player and Jon Zulauf kept missing free throws helping Iowa win a pretty incredible comeback. Was a youngster but that game always stuck with me.
It’s a shame . I think they all would have stayed if Fran returned. All except Freeman.

This is fine. A complete clearing of the decks for the new coach. He can outreach to guys he might want back, if he chooses. Otherwise get the guys out of the portal that he wants within his payroll constraints.
I'm more interested in Iowa men's bball at the moment than I have been in years.
So we basically can't field a 5 person team right now and don't have a coach. Crazy days we're in
No panic! Just an interesting time in the sport when a coach leaves it used to be a few kids gone now it’s basically the entire roster. My thought is you want to get a great coach that can bring some studs with him to help fill out that initial roster until he can get his recruits and portal guys in…
If I’m a player I’m checking to see what a school will pay me . Especially when I can return to the school I’m currently at. Well if I’m any good. I don’t blame these kids they’re only loyal to the mighty dollar. A good percentage of them.
