Mass Exodus

That team had Final 4 or at least elite 8 potential. Acie Earl and Street up front with James Winters, Lookinbill, young Russ Millard plus of course Frosh Kenyon Murray. Barnes was a great juco pickup and while the rest of the guard court was not great they were quick defensively. Street was amazing on the press.
That team was actually built for Davis press.

Street at the front, Murray was a great dednder, Barnes, Smith Glaspher were all good quick defenders and Earl at the back end protecting the rim.

You need to get back and see at least two games each year. Step it up man !
I am not young, and haven't been near Iowa since I left in 1982. Tough for me travel much and health has been a challenge.

I seemed to be a good luck charm for Iowa when I went there in '75. FB was pathetic, and had been for decades. Hayden changed that fast. Andre Tippett might be the best player I have seen in a Hawkeye uni. Lute had just been hired and he made Iowa into one of best teams in the BT, in a period where there were some outstanding athletes. Ronnie Lester is still my favorite Hawkeye BB player, and the knee injury cost him from going down as one of the best PGs ever IMO. The return by the team at night in fieldhouse, after beating Georgetown to get to the Final Four, might be my favorite all-time sports experience. Iowa needs some luck right now.

Oh oh Rocky. This is correct. The 1992-93 roster (which was the season Street died) did not include Chris Kingsbury...I believe the guy who was ballin was our old friend Papa Murray...
He said the Fab 4. So yes, I’m pretty sure I’m correct that was the game Kingsbury went off in Carver.

Maybe I’m wrong but the game after Street died was against the Fab 5 correct??

I guess I could look it up but don’t care enough.

I know Webber wasn’t playing when Kingsbury & Iowa took them down.

So Chris Webber played 36 games for Michigan in the 1992-93. Chris Street died Jan 19th 1993, so that would have been in THAT season. That was also the year that they later had to forfeit their B1G conference wins( judgement in 2002) for scandal. Just looked it up again...Chris Kingsbury was not on the roster until the following year. He never played with Chris Street. Littles mispoke when he said Fab4. he meant Fab5. He also said it was the game after Streets death. That was in Jan of 1993.

Ya I know all of that. But he said Fab 4.

The game Kingsbury bombed some deep 3’a on them Webber definitely wasn’t playing.

That’s the Fab 4. There might’ve only been 3 of them left in that game.

Find out if it was the Fab 4 when Kingsbury was talking tons a shit to those guys.

Let me clear this up. Quick Google search. Kingsbury didn't play a game for Iowa until the 1993-94 season,

The Fab 5 game after Street's passing was in the 1992-93 season, First game after that was @MSU, The big comeback and OT. The Fab 5 game was the first home game after the tragedy.

I seem to remember Webber went pro after the 1992-93 season. Rose and Howard were still on the 1993-94 Michigan team.

Now that I think about it, I wonder if there were just 2 of them left when Kingsbury went off.

Did Howard & Rose leave after their junior year?

Yeah I think so. Pretty sure 1993-94 was their last. I can't say on Jimmy King or Ray Jackson without looking it up.

???? What are you clearing up? Thats exactly what I said......

I know those 2 were playing in that game I’m talking about for sure.

I can’t remember if Rose & Howard were on that team that Iowa beat down.
Was it the 89-69 win this season?

If so, I see King and Jackson on the roster:

So maybe that was it.

That has to be it. For some reason I thought Rose & Howard were on that team but after thinking about it, I’m not sure they were.

Actually you just looked it up & it was just the Fab2. 😂

Sorry to hear about your health issues. I was just kidding about getting up to the games. Sounds like we were students at Iowa at about the same time. I had graduated two years before the final 4 team, but enjoyed that season very much. Ronnie Lester is also my all time favorite Hawkeye and the best Hawkeye guard ever in my opinion. Whether he scored 25 or 10 he could control a game like no other with his complete set of skills. I hope the Hawkeyes can get back to playing outstanding basketball again fairly soon ! Go Hawks. !

Correct, my mistake I meant the Fab 5! Lol. When I said it was after the death of Street that’s the game that they honored him I believe and his parents were in the front row. The game immediately after his death was at Michigan St which was another crazy Dr Tom comeback!

I was in junior high when Street died and the Fab Five played. Those were the good old days of the Big Peach from DSM register. I had all player stats memorized.

I wasn't at that game. But I was in attendance for Dr. Tom's last game in Carver as well as the CBS game of Iowa against Indiana when Luke Recker went off in the 2nd half to lead a huge comeback. Memories of those vs. what we have now is not even debatable

Owen’s conditioning this season prior to his injury was not good. He couldn’t have played 32 minutes a game if they wanted him to.

On top of that, 60% at the FT line isnt gonna cut it either. With that percentage, you cant afford to have him on the floor in crunch time during a close game.

This was a problem I noticed early on this year. He might have just put on too much weight and was uncomfortable playing with the extra lbs. He seemed slow and didn't get off the floor like he had his Frosh year.

First game back after CMS40 was @MSU.

Taylor must be wearing him out

Actually wonder who is going to get the Crean treatment in this situation.
I'm ready for 100 percent roster turnover.
I'd like to see Dix stay. That seems unlikely.
I'd like to see Freeman stay. That seems REALLY unlikely.
After that, meh.
Any potential incoming recruits will be targeted for recruitment by the new coach if he wants them.
As for the rest of the current roster, entirely up to the new coach. I'll be just fine with his call if he passes on all of them.
