I think traditional US sports at the elite level will decline due to younger audiences. Our local hs of 1200 gets the better athletes if that is defined by speed and agility and we are a football traditional power.In the long run, I think this will continue to evolve however.
Tough to remember now, but for anyone > 50 years old, they grew up in a sports world where America hadn't qualified for a WC from 1950-1990, numerous failed attempts at domestic leagues, etc. This current crop of US players who are 30 and under, are the first generation that grew up since we hosted in '94.

That's where some of the taller ones might be, but I can't think of many taller than 6'3". Erling Haaland is 6'4", and I can't think of anyone taller.
