Hurt to have McCullar outKansas was clearly not that good this year, even using the excuse they played in the B12. They lost badly - at least - a few times during the season.

And then there is the ever popular "Who you gonna get?" to replace Fran, and "Be careful what you wish for." by the fans who are terrified of any coaching change, are 100% convinced Fran is the best possible coach we can get, and Iowa is guaranteed to return to Lickliter-level with the next coach.

There's no reason for a program like Iowa to be worried about hiring the wrong guy. You just keep resetting until it works.
I'd give a new coach 3 years tops to decide if we're doing this or trying again.

You can't be serious. The B12 is the most physical league in the country. And it ain't close. The issue for ISU is can they get away with playing physical as they generally do, without getting buried in fouls.

As in football...it starts with smothering defense. Good D means you're always in the game. Add some guys that can score and you've completed the Sweet 16 formula. TJ is a master as well, at finding guys that fit his mentality...its not just a "stars" thing. Fran is a good coach...but I just can't see him taking Iowa to a Sweet 16. They will eek their way into the tournament with him...but that's about it...just my humble opinion of course.

This isn’t football that takes some time to build up. Even if you “buy” your team football has too many variables compared to basketball.
Fran has had more than enough time and he continues to bring in the same players and we get the same results. It’s possible if he was a defensive mind coach Iowa does better in the dance.
But his style is setup to score points during regular season, struggle in crunch time
