Meyer lawsuit...

Well I'd be pissed too when I thought it was for the football team and not for the football team AND the field hockey team. She might have actually tried to pull a fast one and get them added in the building lol what a joke.

I hope she loses and has to pay lawyer fees for the University.

Do you think she may be loosing her mind? That almost seems ridiculous coming from her, unless the person posting is a bit biased. It is ridiculous to think that would be her defense. Is she saying she was perfect in every way in Ferentz's eyes, except for that one incident?

Jane Meyer testified Thursday morning that Gene Taylor, who replaced her as second-in-command at the University of Iowa’s athletics department, inherited 45 percent of her duties and was given a much higher salary.

“I didn’t see a whole lot coming out of (Taylor’s) office,” she said.

“I just didn’t understand what work was coming out of (Taylor’s) office,” she said, claiming that whenever she dropped by it, he had the TV tuned to ESPN.

“I don’t have time to watch ESPN,” Meyer said.

IMHO, Taylor is a huge loss. Then later on is this gem.

“I’m not a flamboyant lesbian,” she said, noting her desire was to become an athletic director at a major-conference university someday. “You don’t become one if you’re an ‘out’ lesbian. You have to be very careful about your personality, unless you’re heterosexual.”

This is such a black eye for the University, I hope they kick her ass

I don't see this as a black eye for the university. I see it as the university is standing up to silliness and most reasonable people see this for what it is and hope she loses.

Most of the negative attention is on a woman trying to score some pity points and the positive attention is on the university for trying to do the right thing. Everyone knows that in these days you have to be almost totally incompetent and brain dead to be fired (especially from a university) No one is being fooled by this woman.

Ya, my wording/phrasing was very poor.

I was trying to say that Jane is going to air some dirty laundry that would be best kept behind closed doors. Thereby causing a black eye to the Athletic Department. Hopefully not, but most likely to happen

"Jane Meyer not Tracey Griesbaum's boss, but did approve new facilities, including $14 m complex that included field hockey."

From @erinfjordan, sounds like a conflict of interest to me

No way in hell one person approved a 14 million dollar expenditure.

The irony is that these diversity hires by UI keep eventually biting them with lawsuits. The pink locker suits and now this. Both were lesbians.

Just as a matter of curiosity, has anyone ever heard of a gay man sueing based on sexual discrimination? It seems like we hear al to of this from the women, but not from the men.
If only Adam would have said "no - apples aren't really my thing baby" Insert best Austin Powers voice.

Obviously not but keeping that relationship under guards is not what I want from a high ranking official who seemed to do everything in her power to benefit that program (not under her control either). That seems to be a conflict of interest and should be grounds for immediate dismissal.

Wut?

Meyer didn't detail her relationship with the FH coach and got involved with numerous projects involving her despite not being direct boss. That's conflict of interest. You have to be open about the relationship because you can be too personally invested (which happened here). Is that too hard for you to understand?

Suggest you do a little more research before flapping your jaws.

This morning on Takedown, Casber said that Meyer put (or approved putting) a column or support in the middle of Tom Brands office. He also thought there were several other things that changed or not how Brands wanted them setup.

haha literally the definition of a conflict of interest.

So wayment...she's boning (work with me here) one of the coaches among other things...this would be a clear chain of command violation and would for sure open the school up to a big sexual harassment hit from the coach. She wants to play with the big boys, this is how it works.

I interpreted that tweet differently: that the illustration depicted female football players. In which case, Ferentz might have felt Meyer was pushing a gender crusade behind his back.

It's not even that, it's that she was not good with coaches and then when her partner gets fired for being abusive...she responds by becoming insubordinate with the hope of a lawsuit. Ridiculous. She should never get another job in a university setting.
Sadly, this is grounds for promotion at most colleges today.

Reading this thread reminded me of Sharon Taylor at Lock Haven. A lesbian AD and avowed manhater who only supported women's sports. She despised wrestling and it atrophied under her watch. It took years of sustained effort to get rid of her. Attached is an amazing article that reads similarly to the Meyer case.

https://lhueagleeye.wordpress.com/2016/04/21/title-ix-controversy-the-lost-haven-of-sharon-taylor/
That article whitewashes Taylor's record. To the best of my knowledge, Taylor is the only AD ever to sue an alumni booster club. And maybe there have been others facing 6 concurrent lawsuits, but that number seems awfully high, especially at a small school like Lock Haven.

This one gives quite a bit more insight: http://blog.pennlive.com/patriotnewssports/2010/01/lock_haven_university_athletic.html

So does this one: http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/spor...eges-lock-haven-lawsuits-taylor-titleix_N.htm

(EDIT: corrected link to the 2nd article.)
