I'd agree but honestly there is no one available better than brands....I'd be up for a serious assistant shakeup with new younger guys who like to score points

Recruiting is picking up and it will continue to get us back on top. You can only coach to a point where the wrestler needs to execute. TnT are good for Iowa.
There are still points to be had tomorrow morning and 1 match tomorrow night. We can still get 2nd.
Losing to Zain and Bo is a given. Losing to Crutch is a given as he's had our number a large majority of the time. A guy who wasn't even originally invited to the dance was one match and a stall call away from AA.

Imo, you make an offer to David Taylor as an assistant. This would be massive for recruiting and for technique, and for a fantastic young wrestler roll with our middle weights. I'm not sure he'd take the offer while still competing. I suspect, there is almost no way he would. But he absolutely should be made an offer.
Good question, obviously status quo isn't getting it done. Is or does Brands want to win or is he content to keep putting round pegs in square holes

Everyone just settle down and enjoy some good wrestling. Any reasonable person knew coming into NCAA that we didn't have a chance to win. We can gripe and moan after the season ends.

Has Brands gotten any worse? Iowa is pretty consistently in that upper echelon of 3-5 teams every year.

I agree with the who will do better but my question is what does Brands need to do to prepare our guys better. We dont seem to come out firing in the semis and finals year after year. Friday night is a round that makes a big difference. Brands has changed how he recruits I hope and expect that he will figure something out with preparation. Regardless of recruiting ranking we are not always looking to score. Grunder from a few years back didnt have big talent but he always attacked till the end. I'm not seeing that as much these days.

Right now other than Gilman losing tonight, what lack of peaking is there? I'm not even sure a guy losing in OT in the semis is lack of peaking.
Fair point... and its a good question... do you accept a 3-5 placing with the hopes of an exceptional season or roll the dice knowing that you could end up woth Tom Crean of wrestling. Tough one. It feels like the Iowa margain for error has become razor thin. Multple tossups in the line up. Maybe thats just the staggering of classes. But what has been constant, is the percieved lack of preperation and aggresion. That falls on the coaches and why i raised the question.
Terry scored points but it isn't necessarily showing with who he coaches matside. Star maybe able to recruit but the jury is still out, but he never put many points on the board. Settling for 4th or 5th place is getting old
The lack of peaking when it comes to being better at nationals than the rest of the year...the only type that matters.
There has been a change. The change in recruiting is going to show in the next 2 years. Kem, Young, Bull, Lee, Warner, Teasdale, Murin. We'll be good to go.
