MOCCO IS A HAWKEYE!!

5'10" and will be about 250lb when on campus. And let me be the first to say, he will have a better collegiate career than Ross. @smalls, that's what opinion, and not reporting, looks like. Don't judge the comment today please, let it play out. He is a completely different wrestler than Steve, with more talent, more moves, and with much of his dad's strengths as well. Huge compliment to Steve because he's developed Michael into what he is today and will be a big part of his growth, and others in the room, at Iowa
I heard he is actually 5'8" with his shoes off 😳.

I remember in that Mocco documentary on Flo when Steve is talking about leaving Iowa after winning a National title.

He said that he lost at the World Team trials and Okie St had multiple Olympians in the room at the time and Tom had taken the job at VA Tech. He didn’t know how he was going to make a World Team at VA Tech, so he reached out to the Iowa staff and they granted him a release, no hard feelings. People remember how you treat them. If they had been shitty to him while he was trying to chase down his dream, he would’ve remembered and likely relayed that to Mike.
Obviously, he still has a ton of respect for the Brands and I imagine has nothing but good things to say about them to his boy.

There is some really cool footage of Terry training Mocco and Cejudo for the Olympics as well.

Might be set a Hwt the next decade. The younger Mocco looks like he’s a stud too and I think was a state champ as a freshman at 190 this year

He took first his freshman year and second this year. Weird situation....was up 3-0 and the other guy was riding him. Guy gets high and Mocco was able to put his arm through the guys legs and slammed the guy on his back. Kid didn't get up but ref called a win for him by inj default even though it should have been a DQ.

I think this year was his freshman year, was an 8th grader last year. I believe FL is one of the states that allows 7th/8th graders to wrestle HS varsity.

Yeah, he's in the '28 class with Hutcherson and Keegan Bassett
Perfect, he can wrestle 2 years at 197, Hutcherson 2 years at 184. Then Peter can OlyRS in 2032 during big Bros SR year, put on some size for HWT and finish the last 2 years at HWT and Hutch can move up to 197. (It's never too early to pencil future hawks into the lineup ;)).

Like clockwork every time a wrestler commits elsewhere.
from PSU board
Someone on this board posted an interview with Michael after one of his matches. He dropped the F bomb a couple times during it. I thought if h3 comes here, Cael will fix that. I had hoped he came here but wish him the best in the cave with the Doublemint twins.
"I'm glad he didn't come to PSU. I wasn't aware of him dropping the F bomb a couple of times in an interview, but did see some of his antics after winning a match and was not impressed with his character. He's not PSU material IMO. We don't need an attitude reclamation project."

Huge get for the Hawks! T n T putting in the work. Add the Raney brothers and it is a killer recruiting class. Iowa is going to have a bunch of hammers over the next 6 years.
If they don’t Landon Sidun might be an even better target in ‘27. But leaves a gap year at 133

The only sad part of this news is realizing how damn old I’m getting when I’m watching Mocco’s kid wrestle at Iowa 🫤

Question guys - and any ladies on here: What in the world made Mocco drop from 9th to 15th in the class of 26 rankings? Did he lose in the last couple months? I saw the talk about a DQ above, but I don't see any recent losses on Flo. Just curious...and thank you. :)

He lost to Dean Bechtold at S32. It was a 0-1 match going into the 3rd and Mocco got ridden out and turned for 4.

He’s going to have his hands full next weekend, can’t wait to see how he does.
