My 93 year old neighbor broke his promise to me about Trump

He told me after the 2022 election that was not the blowout he hoped for that if Trump was on the ticket he would never vote Republican again. This morning I had him over for a cup of coffee and he told me that he had "no choice" but to vote for Trump again. When I asked him why he broke his promise he shrugged his shoulders and said I was being too emotional. When I pressed him just a bit he blurted out a word salad of excuses including the phrase " she is a young colored woman with no experience". I poured him a second cup and we talked about how dry it is.
Correct. I've been saying it all along. If Hilary couldn't beat Trump, there's no way a young colored women is going to.

this is nothing original but good chance polls and projections prove meaningless this cycle. everyone expects a close 50-50 type election but i wouldn't be shocked if one of the candidates (it could be from either side) won a landslide either. i'm basing this on a couple weird anecdotal observations both over the last week. first (i posted this in a different thread) i saw a guy who (based on appearances) anybody in his right mind would know has to be a trump acolytle but went beserk at the sight of a trump poster -- nobody would've seen this coming. second, i parked next to a car yesterday with a shitload of stickers indicating the owner is a devout christian with a pro-life stance -- the kicker is there was also a spporting harris sticker. i intended to take a pic on my way out but forgot.
something very weird is going on and nothing is as it would seem.

Iowa has a relatively small Black population right?
I think it’s entirely possible that many heartland seniors have not been around Black Americans and they only know what they see on the news.
I am around Black people every day - nearly one in three persons here are of African American heritage.
Poor old fella.
Very small outside of any metro. I think the DSM/CR/Quad Cities metro areas are prob around 10-12% black. Council Bluffs/Sioux City (biggest on the west side of the state) are around 2-5%. Omaha (Council Bluff's biggest suburb) is around 12%.

You can try and try to get them to admit one is better than the other but the never will. That would force them to reflect on their original support and how awful that is and they can't do it. So they play this game that they are just more enlightened than the rest of us and they tell us sure there's this hypothetical "good democrat" but the stupid dems never nominate them. The truth is they would never ever because it goes against their awful nature.
Awful nature?
And don’t you sound like sooo totally like cool.
Like that’s so extra, dude…💩

I can completely see this and I just think the turnout is going to surprise everyone- I truly cannot decide who the winner will be but I truly hope the country will put this behind us and we can just move forward together.

I have never believed any of the brand loyal republicans, aka closet MAGA, who said they would never vote for TRUMP again.

Oh, yea. 100%. It's just sad they have NO CHOICE other than to do it though. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!

Lol idk maybe because you actually talk to each other about important issues and understand who she is as a person and what she stands for. I'm not saying you should be going back and saying did you vote for this person or this person but I think it's pretty weird in this election if you don't already know the person you so intimately share your life with who they plan on voting for.
Ew, get to know my wife?

No but I don't cater to bigots like you either.
Is bigot the only word in your vocab? Seriously you call everyone a bigot. When you rely on one train of thought it loses its meaning.
Growing up as a child during the Civil Rights movement I saw bigotry on a huge scale. You truly have no idea.
Unless you’re talking about dead Pakistanis of course.

You saw bigotry and doubled down on it? How cute.

I talk to my wife all the time about important issues. I am 99% sure on who she is voting for. Not in a million years would i ever ask because it isn't my business. Understand?

Man you are mensa city. If Harris wins, will one on your personalities disappear? You must be the dogshit pig fking version of yourself.
Temper, temper, little man...I sense your fragile BP getting worked up. And for the record, I've never had sex with any gene pool east of Ukraine.

Um, it’s extremely likely he wore them even in basic training…there used to be this thing called the draft?
Yes, I understand there was a draft for Korea.

I know very few who served in Korea. There’s a lot of assumption there.

He actually isn' that bad of a guy. But, in my opiion he is just another small town racist that has never really known as black person. He hates the Mesqwaki's over in Tama too.

I have a feeling this guy would probably help a black guy if needed though right?

Not like he's out there burning crosses and hanging people is he?

I could be wrong.

Now you’re getting desperate and doubling down.
Maybe put on your lab coat and get back to work.
And stop with the name calling.
We’re not Pakistanis, you know?
He's getting mad...a cultural affliction to be sure! Has to be itchy when all those back hairs stand up!!

So a woman of color who turns 60 next week and has served as attorney general of a major state, as a U.S. Senator, and as Vice President is disqualified for being too young and having no experience, while the old white guy he voted for in 2016 had previously only run the family business he inherited. OK. Pretty easy to see the relevant factor here.

No, he is a good guy with bad ideas....plus, he brought me a dozen farm fresh eggs from his small flock.

I see you overlooked the fact that the old white guy actually did the job for four years...

My grandpa served in Korea. He, nor my grandma or even my mom talked about it outside of the fact that SPAM was not allowed in the house after that.

All good fun......except to the puss factor!

Is it though? Seems like complete vitriol being thrown around here and IRL. I mean I have been talking to my clients on both sides of the aisle for weeks now and just a complete disdain for the other side. Seems worse this year than others.
