My oh my and we used to be such a defensive juggernaut...

Dr. Tom's team never had a chance at a BTT, those were not available until Alford.
Dr. Tom is a have's coach
9-0 1st rnd wins
2 sweet 16 finishes
1 Elite 8 finish.

as for Fran he took over a program that was coming off a 3 year stretch where Iowa won just 15 games, 11 seasons of just 3 BT seasons of .500 or better seasons and 3 NCAAT with just 1 win.

Iowa was a balzing inferno of a waste dump when he took over. he not only had to rebuild the BB team but also give the fans a reason to come back.
the fans are back top 100 and the rare top 50 players are STARTING TO LOOK at Iowa even visit, the break thru was when top 50 Woodbury stayed home vs going to UNC
next it was when Cook #38 by ESPN chose Iowa over Kansas.

now he is getting kids out of NYC, Washington DC and Chicago. places that had been foriegn to Iowa before, Chicago had closed its door to Iowa coaches 1st because of Pearle
SA got Freeman but it was slammed shut when Lick ran off Freeman.

now Fran has managed to get these out of Chicago
Moss out of Simeon a school no coach has got a player out of
Hutton out of De La Salle HS
Ulis out of Marion Catholic HS

kinda like the Chicago and NYC connection going forward.

If that’s true, then how come Dr Tom was 0-2 in the BTT?

One point of correction, Gilligan. Dr. Tom's teams played in the first two tournaments and were 0-2, losing both games by double digits .

never played in the BTT so please show me when these occurred.

Well the BTT was introduced in the 1997-98 year and Dr Tom coached at Iowa until the end of the 98-99 season...... soooo, by using basic math he coached Iowa in the BTT for two years.

In 97-98 Iowa lost to Michigan 77-66
In 98-99 Iowa lost to Wisconsin 74-60

Do you think I’m making this up? I thought this was basic Hawkeye knowledge.

these were the finishes in his last 4 seasons
95-96 4th
96-97 2nd
97-98 5th
98-99 3rd.

he did have 2 NIT trips going 2-2 but he never played in a BTT. his last season he lost to the eventual Champion in UConn. in Dr. Toms tenure his teams lost to the regions #1 seed in UNLV
#1 seed Duke twice
#1 seed Kentucky
#1 seed UConn
#1 seed Arizona

losing 6 time to the regions #1 seed so its not like his team were losing to 12 or worse seeds.

Even Frans team have lost in the 2nd round to the regions #2 seed 3 times.

now if Fran was losing to seeds in the 12-16 then there would be cause for concern.

Seriously, you compiled all that data and can’t figure out the Dr Tom coached two games in the BTT (0-2)? I’m not sure if you’re trying to get one over on the word “played” vs coached.

At first I thought you were intentionally being naive and untruthful. Now I’m not sure if it’s just ignorance.

not according to the all time coaching records. please show the seasons endings?

so you hated Dr. Tom that much? why because he didn't win enough in the BT or nationally?

maybe just maybe you need to follow UN Cheats, Kansas or Louiville better know has Stripper/Money U

neither Dr. Tom nor Fran cheat. to win at any cost. personally I wouldn't support cheaters

the All Time coaching records for each coach does not show these 2 losses you speak of.

even so 2 out of 13 BT season and you complain? get a life already.

.

Duke was the #2 seed when Iowa lost to them in 1991.
Arizona was the #3 seed when Iowa lost to them in 1996.

Where did I complain? It was pointed out that your information (basic info at that) was incorrect. You dug your heels in that it was correct based off all time coaching records from somewhere. Again, nowhere did I complain though.

It was further explained to you when the BTT started and when Dr Tom finished at Iowa and you still chose not to believe it. You were supplied dates/years. I don’t know how old you are, but if your stance is that Dr Tom was good coach, yet you don’t know he coached Iowa in two BTT’s it’s a little hard to take your opinion seriously. That is all. Off to get my life.

1998 Link - Perhaps the OP is basing this one on the fact that Michigan got into a little trouble and had to vacate wins. If not it is the 4vs5 seed.

1999 Link - 4vs5 again.
