Stanley has what it takes to be a great one. He is humble and smart. He comes from great stead and is always looking to improve. I think he is highly focused on his and the teams game as evidenced by the fact that he doesn't even go downtown. Nothing for the young man to do down there that will help his future. Stanley is the poster boy for what a college athlete should be, especially one who plays in a place called Kinnick Stadium. He's got his head on straight, and he has his priorities in place.

Having spent six years on the Iowa campus to earn a pair of degrees, I have to admit I never went downtown either. I don't get the allure. Frankly, after the Wirfs thing, I was wondering if maybe the coaching staff should put ankle bracelets on the kids, or maybe have a chip implanted--use some technology so an alarm would go off if they set foot in a bar. I'm not advocating it. I just said it crossed my mind....

With all the perks available in the new facilities, why go downtown? If Wirfs and others need something to do, how about going over that Wisconsin game film from last year? Or maybe just play some pool or ping-pong or some video games? Or maybe just stay the hell in your room and get some sleep....

Anyway, let's hope this is the last of such matters Iowa has to deal with for years to come.
