NBA Combine: Wieskamp's Draft Stock Rising, Dominates in Scrimmages. Luka SITS OUT w/ Groin Injury. Joe had 42" (Luka 29.5") Max Vertical Jump

There are so many GD self-proclaimed experts on this board. I wonder how many thought that Carl Malone would be a perennial all star...
Ha, you're the dumb fvck who was arguing as though you knew he had a 40 vert.

I just miss read it, you were lying saying you saw his head above the rim all time.

If you knew my premise was incorrect you would have corrected me, but you didn't have a clue.

You are full of shit.

So 6.5” lower than Wirfs?

The IA FB team turns out some freakish combine numbers. It’s quite impressive.

I think the max vertical and standing vertical are getting everyone messed up in this thread.

As @PhoenixHawk5.0 pointed out, we are talking about 2 different tests.

Wirfs had a 36.5" standing vertical jump.

The NBA test is the maximum vertical jump, which is the difference between your standing reach and your running jump reach.

Watch Tristan:

And Here is the Max Vertical Jump Test:

Your opinion means shit. But I am sure you've been told that a few thousand times in your worthless life already, loser.

I never said that he had a "40 vert". And I have had season tix for the last several years, and yes, I have seen him sky. Enjoy your view from your couch.

And it isn't my job to correct idiots.

Then why did you respond to my opinion with a lie?

Obviously my opinion ment enough that you felt the need to try and refute it.

You didn't correct me because you didnt know and you were to busy lying.

5 of the last 6 games before the NCAA's he was only scoring 11-12 points - Good but does show he kind of disappeared
He isn’t going to be the go to guy on any team so this means nothing. He will have a Duncan Robinson type role in the league

Woo specifically cited Iowa's 82-71 loss to Illinois in the Big Ten tournament when Illini center Kofi Cockburn scored 26 points on 11-of-17 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds primarily matched up against Garza.

Yeah, Garza only had 21 points and 12 boards in that game. Shameful showing! How about the game that Luka had 25/10 as opposed to Cockburn's 6/6. Or the one he had 28/8 to Cockburn's 12/8? Or the one he went 19/4 to Cockburn's 9/10? Luka made a habit of dominating all the terrific big men the B1G could throw at him the past two years, but none of that matters? Just that one game?

But according to so many on this Board he's not an "athlete"?
I have never seen that said on this board. Only some who feel that he isn’t athletic (edit: read: explosiveness, lateral quickness) enough to stick in the NBA, which is likely untrue, but TBD

In a post lottery drawing mock, the Athletic has Luka #46 to Toronto and Joe #53 to New Orleans. Both seem to be trending the right way as the draft approaches. It would be great if Iowa could sell having possibly 3 guys (Garza, Wieskamp, Cook) on NBA rosters next year with Keegan Murray coming soon.

I know about as much as any other idiot on this board, but my take is if Luka and Joe land with the right team/coach/system they both have a great chance of playing in the NBA for several years.

If you want to get nit picky on words go ahead. You know exactly what I mean and it's been inferred often. JW is plenty athletic enough to play in the NBA. Does he have a position to play, maybe - maybe not. Can he finish at the rim, not yet. Can he shoot it, absolutely. And finishing at the rim has far more to do with strength and that is what he lacks right now for the NBA.

I’ve now seen multiple videos of Luka splashing 3 after 3 after 3 and barely touching the rim from different spots on the floor during this draft workout. That is like a living cheat code. Yes I know it is different with someone guarding you, but it still is amazing to watch. Hitting 3s like they’re layups for the rest of us.

He sure is easy on rims, but tough on nets.

The combine record for max vertical was just set by Keon Johnson at 48". So Joe's 42" is fricken soaring, and absolutely shows he has the "athleticism" to play in the NBA. If he doesn't carve out a nice NBA career it will have nothing to do with any type of lack of athleticism.

I was looking at Garza’s numbers. For the lane agility and shuttle runs he’s pretty good. One of them the fastest center was only .08 faster and the other one the fastest center was about .3 faster. Both of those numbers are pretty damn close, only about 2.5% slower. It is in straight line running and jumping where he suffers and isn’t all that close in measurements. I’m surprised the agility scores are that good, but it does make sense when you consider how good his footwork is and how quick he can pull off some of those moves.

We know he’s not fast down the court, yet he often times beat the other team’s center down the court on offense for position because he exerts max effort all of the time while the other guy is often jogging. That is the Garza difference, he doesn’t take plays off. The 100% of others when It comes to athleticism is likely better, but they often only put out 80% effort throughout the game while he’s putting up close to 100% all of the time because of his conditioning.
