I’ll be working and try to stream some of it, but updates from any who are able to tune in and watch would be much appreciated

Scouts will like not just that he made shots, but they weren’t just stand still shots. Off the dribble, moving off screens.

Made a good recovery for a block on the roll man. Only real criticism of defense so far would be getting posted up twice on switches. Lead to 1 score, another was a foul. But he’s moved well on the perimeter.

The game feels disjointed as expected with new teammates and people really trying on defense.

Joe made a few mistakes that last sequence, but he’s been one of the brighter spots.

Like the announcers are saying, Joe’s team is incredibly disjointed. I didn’t watch that much Creighton this year, but I can’t imagine Zegarowski was their PG. Their backup PG Nix from the g league was also subpar. Preston, Grimes, Christopher, Abmas are better playmakers than anyone on Joe’s team.

Joe showed his ability to hit different shots, blocked a few shots. Did well to get himself open off the ball by cutting or going off screens. He did as well as he could’ve.

Chad Ford spent 17 years covering the NBA Draft with ESPN. Now he independently publishes a newsletter and a podcast (Chad Ford's NBA Big Board).

Here is his analysis. As you will read, the "best athlete in the draft" is usually far from the best player in the draft.

Nevertheless, Chad points out that Wieskamp excelled in multiple tests where Garza did not.

This is an interesting quote from the article: For those college basketball fans who keep asking why Luka Garza isn't ranked higher, look at his numbers across the board. They're relatively poor....This confirms what NBA teams feared.

Chad writes that NBA teams generally regard the standing vertical as more indicative of "in the game" athleticism than the max vertical jump. Luka had the worst standing vertical leap, where players get one step before their jump (24") and the worst max vertical leap (29.5").

In the 3/4 court sprint, Luka had the worst time.

Chad then wrote this: "Wieskamp showed well in all of these drills and could find his draft stock boosted. He's a very good shooter who tested really well. That should be attractive to teams, despite his age." Ummm, Joe is 21!!! :(

Is Chad Ford the guy who went back into his pre-draft archives and rewrote them so he would look better years later?

Link?

Edit - it appears that someone did but ESPN thinks it wasn't him, saying they trust him. Hmmm...who would do such a thing?

🙂

Joe’s team was a mess. He looked decent at times… he really camped out on the perimeter most of the game. Wouldve liked to see him be a bit more selfish and show off the hops.

Joe’s team was still poo, but Joe was once again the best player. I think he knows that too, because he forced a shot I’d never seen him try before. Don’t think he would force that on another team.

Did a good job of using his wingspan to trap ball screens on the perimeter. Really solid floor game besides the forced shot. One of the few players who’s comfortable moving without the ball. Created a shot for another guy with his movement who proceeded to air ball it.

It looked like he had a steal and layup, but couldn’t see due to interviews.

Love Thibs, but he makes Ferentz look interesting in interviews.

Joe has not been playing well. Got a three point attempt blocked, passing up wide open threes, and not playing good defense on a 2-on-2 fast break where he just left his guy to help and they had an easy pass to the open guy for a layup.

Joe has been on the boards a bit and a couple of plays have been designed for him out of dead balls.

They’re not showing the game anymore, but you can see player stats on the big Jumbotron. Joe with 24 points. Every other player on the floor in single digits.

Scouts are looking to see if some of his measurables match his in game production. They’ll be happy that his long wingspan made an impact in the two games. They want to see the defensive upside.

It’s hard to believe it could’ve gone any better. The 40’s is the latest he’ll fall.

He’s probably at the tail end of second round and I’m not sure he sticks in the league, but he’s outplaying a number of guys and I’m sure he’ll be gone from the Hawks.

His defense will still be a big red flag for teams that are looking at him.

Helluvan efficient game for Weezy, and finished as leading scorer and rebounder- way to show out!

its too bad Luka had to pull out of the scrimmages; he needed on court performances to help overshadow his poor testing numbers
