Not a surprise. Smith beat him last year too.

I hope they have good backside runs, but siebrecht and glazier showed this morning why Iowa recruited over them.
All of those guys that ran off in August lost in RD1. Thank goodness for what Parco, healthy Teemer and Buchanan gave us this year!

As I type that...UGH

Lack of bonus in this round has become the new normal for Iowa wrestling.

Unless Iowa puts four guys into the semis...I see no way in hell they finish 2/3.

Ben Keuter (Iowa) 6
Daniel Herrera (Iowa State) 0

FINAL
I will say that I was surprised Ben wasn’t actively looking for bonus that last period. Up 5-0, he had a big enough lead that he could risk getting taken down to try to get to 8-0.

See Buchanan for reference. He was trying so hard for bonus, it went from 9-2 to 11-7.

7-2 with 3 bonus wins How many exactly were they supposed to score. Mind you 2 of the 4 that didn’t were 11 seeds…

Edited because I keep brain farting on Parco. He wins but he sure wins ugly…

Only major surprise from the first round was no bonus @ 165. Lets be honest, we all expected him to bonus his way to the semis at least.

Still have 6 guys on the front side. Not expecting much from either Cruz or an injuried Teemer on the backside.
