Who was the Nebraska asst coach who just got nailed for his 3rd dui in 5 years. Heard it in the car but was catching the tail end of the discussion.

How can this guy not get fired? Does he need a second chance?
How can a program continually put winning above all else?
I don't get it.

I actually went to their board and said I wish they would keep him since it gives us one more example of the fuskers selling out for w's (that they won't actually get) long story short. I'm banned from there again. Their mods are so thin skinned it's sad.

I have been posting on scout.com for over 10 years and on here for just a brief time. Only twice have I ever posted on an opponents board. The first time to congratulate a team on a hard fought loss where I thought they outplayed Iowa a couple years back and it was well received. In the past couple minutes I went over to the Nebraska board to see what they were saying about their assistant coach who just got his 3rd DUI. A person who was listed as a moderator was making the argument that since this guy was a great recruiter and WR coach, he should not be fired. He did not even think the guy should serve jail time. I voiced my opinion, while calling him Einstein, and he said that if the insults continued, I would be banned. Well......

.....I was in the process of explaining to him that while I get a second chance, but no more, on a simple sports related forum, he was contradicting his very thought process. How can this moron think that I should only get one second chance on a sports forum, yet a man driving around drunk and risking lives should get all the chances he wants just because he is a good recruiter. Seriously?

I was hoping I would last long enough to ask this bonehead how many runzas he fit up his cornhusker, but I was banned shortly after he said that I would get a second chance.

I apologize if I ever offend people with my rhetoric.

Nebraska mods are so soft. Their fans only want to give KW a second chance because it helps them win football games and recruit. Plain and simple. Yet they act like they are just morally superior to those who think he should get fired. Embarrassing.
I think that is awfully sad. If it was Joe Blow getting his 3rd DUI, he would probably face 6 months in jail, plus other fines and community service. It is embarrassing. What kind of message are they sending to their student/athletes?

In college football, winning means more than morality. It isn't until the national media gets a whiff of what is really happening within these programs do things change. And even then, there is pushback (PSU/Sandusky vs people outside their safe-space).

I think you are spot on. But I also think that many universities push the limits when they prostitute their programs for the sole purpose of winning and increasing revenues. I would like to think that the Ferentz lead Iowa program keeps things pretty just and honest. What do you think would happen to an assistant Iowa coach after his 3rd DUI?

What do you tell the players? "Do as I say not as I do".

Side note he is easily considered their best recruiter

This should answer the question everyone is asking of why hasn't he been fired yet.

They don't exactly navigate on a high moral compass in Lincoln. If he can help them win some football games this thing will get dismissed.

The best part of anything being discussed over there is that I am sure they aren't concerned that some asshole coach of theirs may kill somebody before it's all said and done but it will be more about how it affects recruiting. That whole program should be burned down.

Do you think he would be around to get his 3rd?

Getting a 3rd DUI at 2am during fall camp? Real solid leadership there. I'm sure that won't be used against this clown in recruiting.

It will be very difficult to recruit from jail which is where he belongs.

'Belongs' isn't always applicable in Nebraska if they think he can help them win. The story will come out about how this was a wake up call, he had a tough childhood, he has gotten help and changed, Reilly has a zero tolerance policy but has shown his compassion and feels a structured environment will help him the most, can't take football away from him, etc. Then if he stops getting top recruits he will be shown the door. It's how they roll over there.

Iowa forum mods routinely ban posters and actually go to the extreme of banning IP addresses. Contrary to what many of you believe, the Iowa football program is no better or no worse than any other program in the country when it comes to discipline of coaches and players. It is either ignorance or trolling to suggest that the Iowa program always takes the high road and is morally superior. Of course this moral superiority is also used to explain the mediocre success of hawk football through the years. Many of you seem to want the Iowa program to have the respect of programs like tOSU, Michigan and MichSt without having to earn it on the field. Good luck with your Kansas State like schedule again this year. I know, I know, Iowa can only play the teams in front of them and there is nothing that can be done to create a more difficult schedule. There is no defending the schedule so you should just own it and accept that at best hawk football is little brother to at least 6 other programs in the B1G. Hawks have one of the best coaches in the nation and a very good QB and still gets embarrassed on the field. I personally look forward to the day when KF retires or takes another job and CJB is gone and you hawk fans slink back into the holes you crawl out of every time the Hawks have a winning season.

Feel free to provide some of the details on the lack of discipline for the coaches and players. The arrest listing should be first, then look at the crimes, then look at what was done to the people who committed crimes. Should be eye opening for you once you get past the revenue producing 'Iowa City crimes'

Serious question how many programs keep a 3rd dui offender on staff?

Funny that you qualify certain crimes as "revenue producing IC crimes". The Iowa athletic department is no better or no worse than any others.

Apparently the charge has already been reduced to a misdemeanor. The Lincoln PD and Lancaster County judicial system have worked diligently to keep the Fulmer Cup out of Lincoln for over a generation.

This guys post history >>>> Hahahaha moron

It went from a felony dui to a misdemeanor dui but a Dui nonetheless. It's amazing what money can do in our legal system. Dude blew a .15.

In a decent amount of college cities some of the 'crimes' in Iowa City aren't recorded as crimes. Never let facts get in the way of a good opinion piece. Oh and yes I did notice that you didn't support your post. Looking forward to your follow up 'I know I am but what are you' post. Keep working you can make it.

Wow those are some nice blood shot watery eyes. Is this guy the main recruiter on Keyshawn Johnson's son?

But in all seriousness when people talking about firing him or not if Nebraska and Reily really have his best interest in heart he probably shouldn't be coaching when first game rolls around. Guy needs to go seek help like Sarkisian did then get back into football. Lot of people made mistake and got one but a 2nd and 3rd says something about a bigger issue at hand.
