Nebraska AD gone?

Back to TA.
Its about money. It’s always about money directly or indirectly. Directly to TA, indirectly to athletic dept, indirectly via NIL, indirectly to NU in general. But it’s money.
We'll know more once his contract details are revealed. As of yesterday, he was among top 10 paid ADs in the nation at a place that had his jersey retired.

There's a lot of speculation that the Governor, BOR, and maybe some hidden figures chased out the President/Alberts. At least they did not have the same leadership vision that the president or Alberts had.

No one is hiring anyone away from Iowa, for sure. I think in this case, Trev doesn't have a university President to report to, or who can run interference between the AD and the BoR. It would suck to be the AD and have to report directly to the BoR (who couldn't care less about football). It's a bigger mess than just the AD or money or a fake ass lawsuit about women's BB.
You're a trollish tool.

Most overrated god damn things I have ever ate.
Someone must have really led you astray. They're mid at best. They're just regional. If anyone ever hypes them up to the point where you feel like you need to go out of your way to try one, they did you a disservice.

The only thing they're good for is keeping your hands warm in memorial stadium.

Alberts along with coach Williams were both going to be dismissed at the end of the lawsuit. He just bailed and left her holding the bag.

Just a really, really trashy school.

Tom Osborne dead yet? He could be the AD.

How about Barry Alvarez?

LOL

Gubner Pillen just issued a call to action for the BOR to appoint a permanent university president. For academic leadership? Hell no, because a favored son AD just departed, and he’s extremely disappointed by this decision.

Reminds me of something my dad told me once when I was three: “you can try as hard as you want, but you just can’t take the Nebber out of a Nebber.”

Surely you can’t be that ignorant. A&M has a huge football tradition. Known for the “12th man” they’re always on the list of top college football programs and game day environments.
I think he might have been confused and thought I was comparing A&M tradition with programs like USC, Bama, and OSU. I agree that would be a pretty big stretch. I was actually comparing them against programs like Utah State, Bowling Green, and Nebber.

Trivia question...Has Nebraska had move AD turnover since 2010 or more head football coach turnover since 2010?

The answer may surprise.

Apparently he Pillen was taking some pot shots at the university recently. People are speculating that's why Alberts was looking to leave. Now he's questioning the leadership.

There's also been some speculation that the BOR didn't think the former president was conservative enough.

So - as of right now if you go over to the dumpster fire that is Nebraska Rivals. They have several threads about the AD for a total of 15 pages (but it’s early) BUT looking quickly through the threads - Albert has suddenly become a bad AD and they don’t need him. They probably think they’ll get Greg Byrne.

Not sure why they would need 15 pages (and counting) if Alberts was bad?

This is from memory:
Coaches - Pelini, Riley, Flop, Joseph, Rhule
ADs - Osborne, Eichorst, Moos, Alberts, TBD

Like I said, that’s just from memory. It feels like I’m missing about 3-4 on both of those lists.

Bingo!!!!

Although they aren't counting the wife beater as he was just an interim.

Solid program.

Also a lawsuit by former Husker women’s hoops player likely played into it?

Cable Guy called him a traitor.

A player was groomed by an assistant coach. When she reported it she was basically told to STFU, had her playing time cut and was harassed by her teammates. She was ultimately kicked off the team and she transferred out to UNLV.

Her lawsuit states there was never an investigation and was unfairly released from the team.

Um, what I have read is that there was rumor and speculation about this affair swirling around the team and when on a road trip to Penn State some teammates acquired a room key to the assistant coach's room and barged into it catching them in the act. That's when the head coach found out about it and called a team meeting to address what had been going on.

The player was obviously embarrassed and eventually transferred out of Lincoln. Listen, I hate Nebraska, but to me it sounds like this player knew what she was doing, got caught, and now is trying to play the victim to get paid. The assistant coach involved got the axe too.

Since I started reading this thread I did a little sidebar Google search on what has been going on at Nebraska. I don't think Trev got chased out because there is no one to chase him out. UNL is a rudderless ship right now. No President of the University and no President of the Board of Regents in the last 200+ days. I think the issues on the BoR have trickled down to the University level and have now chased off the President and AD.

From Trev:
Who requoted Eichorst: "In the final analysis, I had to evaluate where Nebraka was." 😂😂😂

Williams isn't going anywhere. She's built Nebraska into an upper half Big Ten program and just took Iowa to the brink in the BTCG.

We're talking about Nebraska here, where winning is all that matters. They aren't firing her because some former player got caught banging a coach and is now playing the victim card to get paid.

Someone who doesn't suffer from Huskers derangement syndrome and can be reasonable. How refreshing.

Trev left because he has to report to directly to the BoR (which is a political gestapo in Nebraska) now since we don't have a university President. The guy who hired him was able to be a buffer between the AD and the BoR. That buffer is gone, and the BoR has seemingly zero interest in hiring a new President. It's a bad situation for the AD for sure. The fortunate thing for Alberts is that he has a giant parachute for his trip out because A & M recognizes his value.

From what I've seen around is they all want a different person that fits their politics and agenda. They're undercutting each other to try to get their person and none of them can agree on anyone. So they do have interest, just no interest in anyone else's candidate but their own.

I gotta agree with these husker fans. This seems like an odd move if true. Maybe they are doubling his salary??

I am biased, as I have a kid at TAMU. its a very good school (Top 20 public university) with amazing resources and one of a kind culture. Football has underperformed, though not to the degree that the fuskers have. the SEC is even tougher than thr B1G but would have recruiting advantages Nebby would never reap.

College Station is not the most scenic town, but it has really blossomed over past 5 years (restaurants, boutique hotels, shopping, etc.) and you have easy access to larger cities like Houston and Austin.

And yes, I’m sure the comp is outstanding.

So a giant shit-show. I didn't blink when our President left for OSU. Didn't connect it at all to athletics. That will teach me to think that the BoR would stick to what they should be doing well and let the President and AD take care of the other stuff.

Looks like a little dose of humility has made you a bit more reasonable as well. (at least temporarily). The above makes a lot of sense.

I make the 3rd most sense of any poster on this board, and I'm the 2nd best overall poster. And I'm a Husker. I've always just dropped 100% factual stuff on your doorsteps. Like a cat with a dead bird or something lol.

You got to figure if rhule has even any whiff of success (which in Lincoln is getting 6 wins making a bowl game) he bolts for greener pastures for a more stable environment. Looking at his track record it’s not far fetched to see this happen.
