Happy as hell for him. He’s doing what he needs to do. If this is his swan song he’s going out singing at the top of his dang lungs. Way to fight Nelson.

I really hope he does come back. Seems like a switch came on when he finally got healthy. Would anyone have predicted 5th place for him a month ago?!
It wasn't that long ago that it was hard to imagine Nelson scoring 5 match points at nationals much less 5th place. Fantastic run to the medal stand, hopefully he comes back healthy and hungry next year!
Thought it was cool to see 3/4 dudes who catch the most shit from fans put the team on their back last night.
I’d think he would have participated in senior day if he wasn’t planning on being back.
When I saw him go toe to toe with Labriola, I thought he had a good chance to AA. I even predicted him at 5th in my Pick'em contest. Now my other picks, well, we won't talk about them.

Nelson had a fantastic tournament. He seemingly wrestled to "win vs not lose" on the backside. It was a joy to watch him "find himself" a bit as a wrestler. We couldn't have asked for anything more this weekend. I look forward to seeing him back next year, building on this weekend's results.

I think a healthy and focused Nelson could be top 3 next year. The only thing he is lacking is some polish in his mat game and confidence to execute more offense. He has the strength and athletic ability to be in any match.

Isn't starocci still undecided about returning? That would definitely put 2023 ncca tourney brands into the 2024 title conversation if Carter chose to move on.
His interviews seem to indicate Olympics then MMA are the future focus. I’m not sure if that means he will just wrestle a limited PSU schedule 23-24 or ORS or he’s done with folkstyle. There was not a follow up question to clarify.
I find it hard to believe Carl won’t find a way to use all of his eligibility. There was talk of RBY leaving early and I think a lot of us thought we’d believe it when we saw it. Of course, he came back.
One of the advantages of having virtually limitless funds is that you can make it a whole lot more attractive for guys like RBY and Starocci to stay. I fully expect him to be in their lineup until his eligibility is done. Maybe not for a run at the 5th national title (if I’m not mistaken, with the extra COVID year he’s the only guy who could actually win 5), but at least through 4 NCAA tournaments.
