Next Freshman National Champ

I hope your wrong, but I don't disagree with your assessment of White. He is a great talent. But I will be rooting for both PA boys to beat him although it looks right now that Kemerer will be a weight class below white for the foreseeable future.
I hope I'm wrong too!
White just seems like that type of kid that will give a lot of top guys problems.
On the bright side, I don't think Kemerer will ever meet neither Joseph or White in college.

I agree. Within a few years he went from John Smiths son to JoJo. AA as a true freshman isn't to shabby.. I think his progession over the last couple years has been impressive.

Expectations can be brutal sometimes. I think there were some that thought that JoJo would challenge for the national title this year. So, expectations for some went sky high. So, when he ONLY gets 7th as an injured/recovering from illness (I'm not sure which it was) true FR many feel like a let-down. I think he did very well and is a true talent. How many FR talents struggle at their first NCAA's (remember top seed Max Askren? or more recently Adam Coon as a FR, just to mention two?). Time will tell if he's national champ caliber, but he's definitely top 2 or 3 caliber in my book. That's not too shabby.

This may not be the most popular opinion, but in my opinion White is the best pure athlete in this Freshmen class. He has the most raw talent and that includes Hall. Some people forget Hall is almost two years older than White.

With that said Kemerer and Joseph are both much safer recruits and have a much higher "floor." If either of those two aren't successful in College they will be 3 year starters and multiple time NCAA qualifiers and at least a 1 time AA. Where as White could easily a 1 year starter and never qualify to the NCAA tournament.

I don't disagree with this at all. A fully motivated and "all in" Isaiah White could end up being the best wrestler from his class. In regards to your earlier post, I believe White beat Joseph 3-1 on a takedown in overtime at Ironman the last time they met. I would hardly consider that soundly, but I don't believe Joseph ever got close to scoring in that match.

The match is featured on Flo right now. While the score was close, the match was not really. Joseph never was in on a shot while White was numerous times and was pushing all the action. White is ultimate high risk high reward recruit. He is the type of recruit that gets coaches fired, but also the type that wins coaches National Titles. He is more flexible, stronger, faster, can jump higher, and longer than any other recruit in the class imo. However, some of the other factors that go into making a successful college athlete (especially in wrestling) are not proven (they might be there, he just has to prove it to everyone still).

Spot on.

I'm not very familiar with White. What leads you guys to single him out as a high-risk recruit? I'm assuming he's had academic and/or legal issues in the past. Correct?
He admittedly didn't take school as seriously as he should have his 1st couple years in high school. He's shown a lot of academic improvement over the last year and a half. At this point I think he's less of a risk than perceived but he'll have to prove it before a lot of folks believe it. Kamal Bey is the best athlete to ever wrestle at OPRF but White is the best wrestler out of OPRF.

White went through and chopped the heads off of some dudes in a tough ass bracket at Fargo. Total domination.

I will go on record as saying Martin never wins another NCAA title. He is an excellent wrestler but had a dream trip through nationals last year. He earned his title, but still think he was ranked about right. Similar to how many of you feel about Molinaro at the Trials. Great effort, deserved the recognition, but wouldn't necessarily pick him next time.

soooo...you are saying Frank never wins another title? ;)

I'm saying that I am very happy that Frank is living his dream, and I hope like hell he reaches the podium at Rio. He has earned everything he's gotten the last six weeks. That said and given his style and competition, I'm still not sure I pick him in 2020 regardless of what he does this summer. You look at a JB and say that he will dominate for years to come because he is head and shoulders above the rest. Pico and Zain and Stieber are already right there with Frank, so he's going to have to work to stay on top. Same with Dennis I'd say. Time will tell for both.

Dennis actually hit his peak right around trials and walked through the bracket with relative ease. Did he have any close matches other than his first match with Ramos? I think he has a legit shot at medaling if he can get on top and take advantage of his gut. But I agree I don't see him as the rep again in 4 years. He seems like the type to retire after the Olympics anyway, but we'll see.

DD seemed too just get it going. JMO I think his intentions are wrestling awhile.

Homey... Cardale be spreadin the butter he bein no drip. He gots his boots on and hit the in and outer. He be usin that idea pot no, dissin him for wantin those jive barkers. I'm down with all his flippin the grip wit the man.

Straight word, Home slice.

Is Micic considered a freshman or a sophomore next season, I forget his circumstances? If he is a freshman my list would look like this (by weight class): Micic (125), Brock/Eirmann (133), Hayes (141), N/A (149), N/A (157), Joseph/Massa/A Valencia (165), Z Valencia (174/184), N/A (197), N/A (285).

I'm not predicting any of these guys to win it, but these are the ones I think have the potential. I'm expecting AA finishes out of Kem and Marinelli but they are a (very small) step down from the other monsters at these weights. 157 is a two-man race with iMar and Nolf and 165 will be deeper than it was this year IMO. Marinelli just isn't ready to hang with these guys quite just yet.

Micic transferred from Northwestern, so since he transferred to a B1G school he had to lose a year of eligibility. He'll be a RS SO. (His only year at NW he RS'ed).

don't know if cali_nittany is being sarcastic but that's pretty much it, his olympic redshirt might've helped get him the waiver to

Michigan will be loaded next year! Coon,Pantelano,Micic, and Massa are locks to high AA. Sure I am missing a few guys,oh yea,Abandondor

Maybe I misunderstood Calinittany--when he spoke of escaping the dumpster fire. I assumed he was joking in reference to the problems Northwestern had with losing a lot of coaches/wrestlers. If there was a literal fire, my bad. I hadn't realized he got an olympic RS. That alone would explain his not getting the mandatory loss of a year. I later read an interview of his and he said he would have to sit out a year at whatever B1G school he transferred to, but as an Olympic RS he wouldn't lose a year of eligibility.

Kemerer is going to be better than even the die hardest of Hawkeye fans realize. There isn't an opponent out there that Mike won't be right there with... Including Martinez and Nolf. Write it down, take a picture, IDGAF.
What do you mean "right there with" everybody? Do you mean he isn't going to get majored? If he loses to IMar by 5 is that "right there with"? The kid could go 17-9 and score no points in NCAA's and be "right there with" everybody. You can pretty much say that about alot of our wrestlers. Hardly a prediction.

I think most people with a brain understood what he meant.

with iMar moving up that definitely simplifies things a little bit for Kemmerer. I still don't think he's near Nolf's level, but honestly I don't know of anyone else at 157 he doesn't have a chance against. It would be pretty great if he were able to make the finals as a freshman - it certainly isn't impossible.

You're hard on for me knows no bounds. You want concrete predictions? I'll bet you get outta the shower to take a piss this morning and I'll bet Mike Kemerer is a top 4 seed in STL.
