Next years roster, point to the hope

What I had read was that he was really raw coming out of high school and mostly just used his athleticism to score and didn't really have a refined jump shot. Someone said that in high school Rocky just put him in ISOs most of the time so Nimmers needed to learn how to play within an offense too.
Redshirting seems like the right move if this was mostly a learning year. I'd much rather have 4 years where he can actually get minutes vs burn a year of eligibility where he probably only gets minutes in garbage time
Yeah that's how it would have played out but the question is should it have been that way?

I know highlights are deceiving but I doubt anyone else on this teams practice highlights are going to look like those.

He must really be bad at something were not seeing because I don't understand how he didn't have more offers.

Nimmers just released practice highlights. Enjoy everyone.
If Fran doesn't give this kid the last scholarship he has left or unless other scholarships open up from disenchanted players leaving the program, Fran needs to throw the towel in and retire from coaching. He looks like the real deal and looks a heck of a better player then some of Fran's past players that were on scholarship.
Also after watching the video I'm more enthusiastic about Mulvey then ever, he will be a major player for Iowa next year....
Both of these players I bet, could have helped Iowa this year if given the playing time.

As far as possible Iowa players bidding good bye to Iowa this offseason, after seeing this video of Nimmers, I could see maybe Ulis, again Ogundele, and possible Patrick if he still has anxiety issues. Any players that Fran picks up from the portal better have big boy stats to go along with athleticism that Iowa sorely needs. A good start would be to give Amarion Nimmers a full scholarship.

Perkins was honorable mention (along with Connor). Sandfort was 6th man.

Doubt any of the three would have played much let alone started for the top teams.

If he was more consistent, Tony would easily be there...

By top teams, do you mean the teams either tied or 1 game ahead of Iowa in the standings or do you mean the team that just lost to a #300 ranked KenPom team in the tournament? Would love clarity.

Perkins would not have started for PU, IU, Michigan, Illinois, Michigan State, Maryland or Northwestern. He's one of the lowest bb IQ guards I can remember at Iowa.

Just think what would have happend had Fran started the 6th man of the year the last 3 yrs in row inplace of either of his kids?
more or less tournament wins?

Sanfort would have.
Sandfort had a huge confidence problem and didn’t play great defense. Until the last 1/3 of the season. You couldn’t afford to play him lots of minutes unless he was hitting shots. With that said I think he will be a damn good player before he’s done.
