This is a good sign IMO, a nice added benefit to joining. Now they need to make vendors at the stadium donate 10% to swarm. Keep adding to those coffers.
Just goes in the same pool as all one's other priority points in the pecking order for seat orders and seat selections. There is NO benefit, because the press release says Iowa is still deciding what anyone will be able to use the "athletic priority points" for. The plan isn't complete, and they shouldn't have said anything until they have everything ironed out.
Contributions To SWARM Collective Earn Athletic Priority Points

"The athletic department will provide one point per $100 for contributions made to the Swarm Inc. non-tax-deductible account from July 1,2024 through June 30, 2025. Contributions to the Swarm do not count towards I-Club membership levels or per-seat requirements."
"The athletic department and Swarm Collective are still finalizing details, and more information will be communicated in the near future."
What are "per-seat requirements", anyway?Just goes in the same pool as all one's other priority points in the pecking order for seat orders and seat selections.
In my opinion they should be offering Swarm members access to only them for a couple practices in the spring and a couple practices in the fall and allow some interaction with the coaches.
It is nice to be able to upgrade your seats, or be the first to do it without having to buy season tickets to sports you aren't interested in, or just donating directly to the athletic department. There is NO benefit, because the press release says Iowa is still deciding what anyone will be able to use the "athletic priority points" for. Those go to adding points also. The seat premiums currently go to I Club. Count as donations for accumulating points. What are "per-seat requirements", anyway?
donations in per-seats vary depending upon where your tickets are located. 50 yard line tickets are usually 600 plus a 600 donation per seat requirement. What are "per-seat requirements", anyway?

"The University of Iowa Athletics Department is excited to announce that contributions made to the Swarm Collective will now earn priority points through the I-Club priority points system." Did I miss something?Maybe you guys are talking about something else, but this was straight from the press release:
Contributions to the Swarm do not count towards I-Club membership levels or per-seat requirements.
It is, and it's not difficult.Reading is fundamental....
Your first sentence in the post I quoted says "Just goes in the same pool as all one's other priority points in the pecking order for seat orders and seat selections." When it stated otherwise in the press release."The University of Iowa Athletics Department is excited to announce that contributions made to the Swarm Collective will now earn priority points through the I-Club priority points system." That is exactly what it does, Swarm donations go toward I-club points, I don't know if it's 1:1 ratio for donations, but that is what the press release says.Your first sentence in the post I quoted says "Just goes in the same pool as all one's other priority points in the pecking order for seat orders and seat selections." Please re-read the 2nd half of my post that I edited. That is exactly what it does, Swarm donations go toward I-club points, I don't know if it's 1:1 ratio for donations, but that is what the press release says.
Yes, the seat selection is different, that is what the priority points are for. Please re-read the 2nd half of my post that I edited.
for instance, priority points give you the opportunity to upgrade your tickets March 20th vs march 27th if you are in the lowest tier (those dates are made up). the Per seat requirement is an I-club donation for each of your season tickets. Please re-read the 2nd half of my post that I edited.
"The I-Club represents the driving force of Iowa Athletics and allow the department to achieve its vision in providing first class experiences for our student-athletes on the field, in the classroom and in life. The annual fund generates over $20 million every year to support more than 600 student-athletes that represent the University of Iowa. Funds are used for team travel, housing, training facilities, medical treatment, nutrition, uniforms and all other expenses associated with being a Hawkeye student-athlete." taken from the FAQ on their websiteHere's another dumb question, what does the I-Club do? Other than payment brokerage? From the website it seems like a way for the athletic department to not have to pay for things.
I read their FAQ. But those seem like things that should already be provided by the university for student athletes."The I-Club represents the driving force of Iowa Athletics and allow the department to achieve its vision in providing first class experiences for our student-athletes on the field, in the classroom and in life. Great summary. This I club stuff isnt hard. The money donated to Swarm does not count towards the per seat donation required nor does it count towards I Club membership levels.
So if you give 600 to Swarm this does not fulfill the 600 per seat donation requirement for seats at the 50 yd line in Kinnick. You would need to give the 600 directly to the I Club.
Certain benefits come with I Club membership levels. Bronze, Silver, Gold etc. Invitations to private functions, parking permits depending on sport etc...
However we all accumulate 'priority points' that are granted based on years of giving, alumni status, former athlete, years of season ticket purchase etc.
These points count towards seat selection when it comes time to reselect seating or obtain seating upgrades. So, if I gave 600 per seat to the I Club I would qualify for seats around the 50 in Kinnick for season tickets. However, someone with the same I Club donation in 2025, that just graduated Iowa medical school for example at age 26, would have far less total priority points than I. (less years of season tickets, less money donated in total to I Club etc) So I would get to select my seats before he/she did.
That is how this works and how this might matter. All it takes is to have 1 more point than the next guy to be up to upgrade before that person.
The AD is self-sustaining. The Annual Fund is how it pays the bills and keeps the lights on, similar to most any non-profit.I read their FAQ. But those seem like things that should already be provided by the university for student athletes.
You can jump the line now. You simply need to donate to I Club the per seat requirement then you qualify for seats in that section. This is all so convoluted, no wonder people are just watching the games at home.
If the I-Clubs or the Iowa athletic department clearly explained how many priority points equal being able to jump the line and get your seats upgraded, it would go a long way.
Why would you have an issue with this? Honestly, having season tickets to watch a shitty team (hasn't happened recently) should garner you renewals in your section. It was pretty easy to get that upgrade for being loyal from section 103 to 106 a few years back. IMO the better way to get rid of this type of shit is to charge brokers (resellers) a NIL fee on stub hub when they go to sell their tickets to Debbie fans. You can jump the line now. You simply need to donate to I Club the per seat requirement then you qualify for seats in that section.
The problem is, in doing this, you only make yourself eligible for seats in this section that are available. So seats that were given up by others. not renewed, upgraded section by upping their donation level etc...
Until there is a re-seating event (not common enough IMO), you cannot take the seats of someone that renewed their season tickets and met that giving level.
Once the University does a re-seat, everyone starts without seats and selections are open to all and selection time in the process dependent on your priority points.
I have always had issue with this idea that the seats are 'your seats' until you give them up or there is a re-seat but that is how it works.

I may be mistaken here, but I thought the "stadium vendors" were not-for-profit organizations where supporters volunteer their time to make money for the organization. This is a good sign IMO, a nice added benefit to joining. the TIPs for the stadium vendors go to non-profit organizations, not the $10 per beer.I may be mistaken here, but I thought the "stadium vendors" were not-for-profit organizations where supporters volunteer their time to make money for the organization.
If I am right, it would be a little cheesy to tell them 10% goes to the Swarm.
If I am wrong and these are professional vendors, go for it.
