I was trying to find this. I knew Jbo had that buzzer beater against NW.... didn't realize it was the same damn play. Just more time for a dribble for JBo
SAME DAMN SCORE.
SUCK IT NERDS
Needed a W, got a W.
Incredible lol.SAME DAMN SCORE.
Can't rebound when you're undersized if you don't box out and Fran doesn't believe in boxing out. I think he thinks it slows down the break or something.Rebounding and missed FTs were huge factors in the loss to Utah St.
Same things almost cost them the game tonight vs NW.
Why rebounding continues to be such a problem is a mystery, when its beyond obvious that its a weak point every time out. Seems like such a basic thing to focus on in practice. Fix a fundamental of basketball, or at least work on it.
I think Josh is pretty damn tough, and not just because he made that 3. He works very hard on D.They have some guys with skills but lacking muscle/junkyard dog mentality. Barnhizer and Martineli are toughner than our guys Dix, Sandforts. I suppose getting Traore back will help.
I did not see them winning. Iowa making a walk off 3pt shots is maybe a once a season event. JBO had 2 or 3 in his career. Nice one for Dix...fadeaway 28ft nothing but net.
I'm not sure what you do to coach a guy who is 6'8 and afraid to attempt a wide open layup.I only read the past dozen or so posts. Dembele seems to be the guy folks like to blame, but he played some good defense tonight. He has no idea what to do with the ball on offense, except shoot a spot up 3. Lousy coaching there.
If you want to knock someone tonight, the second half of basketball was the worst by Freeman, since early in his freshman season, on both ends.
Josh Dix is nails on both ends. Good game from Harding. We worried about PG before the season, but Harding/Thelwell has been a strength. Traore would have helped again Barnhiser and Martinelli. Josh is the only one who could slow them down.
Very fortunate to win. Got a lot of calls to get free throws. Make your F***ing free throws!
Sorry. We had zero shot on Frans play and it was evident with 2.5 seconds left. Zero shot. I’m not saying we did not get lucky but we had a more open look albeit further away. We were dead in the water before that.PS did NOT make the right call with a timeout at .8 seconds. We just got lucky.
He also is a great athele he levitatesI think Josh is pretty damn tough, and not just because he made that 3. He works very hard on D.
I don’t think Fran’s teams had a big deficit rebounding until recently. It’s partially a personnel issue. We’re not getting what we need out of Freeman and Dembele. Can't rebound when you're undersized if you don't box out and Fran doesn't believe in boxing out. I think he thinks it slows down the break or something.
Who knows, he's a weird dude.
I agree about Freeman. He was mostly disappointing tonight. Went for and missed steals which left no one to protect the rim. Got pushed around. Finished with only 3 boards. He's gotta get tougher down low.I only read the past dozen or so posts. Dembele seems to be the guy folks like to blame, but he played some good defense tonight. He has no idea what to do with the ball on offense, except shoot a spot up 3. Lousy coaching there.

Traveling is the most missed call in basketball. He also traveled twice on his and1 at the end. Couldn't believe the reffs missed it as it was a huge pivot drag.
I agree but you don't usually see someone get away with moving their pivot foot that distance.Traveling is the most missed call in basketball.
it’s all about coaching and he doesn’t care. Look at Drake. Possibly less athletic than Iowa and wins the rebounding battle no matter who they play. It’s important to their coach. It’s not important to Fran. We play 4 guards and a Center that all of a sudden looks like he’s wearing cement shoes. Sandfort cares only about scoring. Zero mystery.Rebounding and missed FTs were huge factors in the loss to Utah St.

Yeah, you can get away with Frans method when you have long tall guys who can jump like the Murrays or guys like Rebraca and Garza that were taught the proper before they got here.I don’t think Fran’s teams had a big deficit rebounding until recently. That's because he's headed to the NBA.it’s all about coaching and he doesn’t care. Look at Drake. Possibly less athletic than Iowa and wins the rebounding battle no matter who they play. Dembele just really needs to sit a lot more. In 16 minutes he was 0-1 for zero points with one rebound, one foul and one turnover. I'd rather Fran put almost anyone besides Lajdi out there taking up space in the starting lineup. The team is better with Thelwell in there playing alongside Harding.Dix was fine. Payton is a terrible defender.
Traore is a good matchup for one of those two but the problem is that still leaves Sandfort to defend the other.
Dembele needs to see a hypnotist or something, he's so afraid to shoot the ball it's sad to watch.
It's wild that Fran has s whole team comprised of forwards and almost none of them can defend or rebound.
Actually, Sandfort led us with 7 rebounds tonight. Yes, he’s a terrible defender and yes he plays too much hero ball. But he’s a team player and gets far too much hate on here. That's because he's headed to the NBA.
I was surprised he didn’t give Mulvey a chance against the big guy, I feel that he would have matched up well.Dembele just really needs to sit a lot more. Agree! Koch will help, too IMOYeah, you can get away with Frans method when you have long tall guys who can jump like the Murrays or guys like Rebraca and Garza that were taught the proper before they got here.
This team is undersized and can't get away with not boxing out.
Traore will improve the rebounding.
Dix penetrates and scores
and then does it again off of a steal
36-19
The Mulvey thing is a complete mystery to me.I was surprised he didn’t give Mulvey a chance against the big guy, I feel that he would have matched up well.
Tell him to go up and dunk the ball.I'm not sure what you do to coach a guy who is 6'8 and afraid to attempt a wide open layup.
Threaten to pull his scholarship?
Anytime Dix penetrates it feels good.at this point in the game, it seemed like the rout was on
Collins in shock.
I think Collins is a good coach, and he isn't a whiner like a lot of other coaches. He has really had some bad luck in Iowa City.Collins in shock.
Agreed. If he were younger I’d love for him to takeover at Iowa when Fran retires.I think Collins is a good coach, and he isn't a whiner like a lot of other coaches. He has really had some bad luck in Iowa City.
I don't think he can. I'm serious about that. The next time he dunks the ball in a game might be his first time.Tell him to go up and dunk the ball.
He dunked in an early game last year in transition. Caught it on the run, took two steps from freethrow line and dunked easily.I don't think he can. I'm serious about that. The next time he dunks the ball in a game might be his first time.
