They are young and douchey. They only have two seniors, going to be frustrated by them for a long time until Collins gets hired by Duke.

They are solid, but they are 20+pts better than Iowa.

NW was on tonight and Iowa was WAY OFF. It happens and a young squad on the road who has been blown out of the water before.

Iowa will be better than NW in the future. NW has been building toward this year for 4 years now.

Did we pass on Scott Lindsey to offer Ellingson? We passed on Law because he broke a leg in HS? They have two PGs, including a guy that can get to rack. I like JayBo, but come on, Fran's recruiting prior to this past season was pretty bad.

I was concerned about all the injuries from Sunday. Pretty obvious to me they played a major role. Jok, Pemsl, Bohannon looked bad and Uhl couldn't even play.

NW made a good hire.. honestly can't see how they keep Collins though. So NW better enjoy this little run of theirs in their little stadium.

Collins has stated he wants to stay in Chicago (he loves Chicago) and build his own successful program rather than follow in someone's shadow. I think he will be in Evanston for a long time.

Actually this year's Iowa squad reminds me a lot of the 'Cats 2 years ago and maybe parts of last year. Northwestern will be very solid next season and Iowa will be close too. Tonight was not representative of Iowa's Big Ten effort so far but it was not surprising after a very physical battle with Purdue on Thursday.

Actually, I believe Law and McIntosh chose them over Iowa and Fran pulled Lindsay's offer after he broke his leg on the Vandy trip. Lindsay seems to have a bit of Iowa dislike which seems to exist in all Northwestern people for some reason.

Collins is at NW for awhile, with the new $110 million facility going up by the lake. Northwestern' Pres and AD are putting like $300 mil into new facilities for football, basketball and a few other sports.

Good - it will be fun beating that smug prick.

I'd like to think that it is too bad we don't face them again at Carver, because I think they enjoyed that win entirely too much and I would like to see us get another shot at them. They are NOT 30 points better than we are.

That said, Collins has done a great job at Northwestern. This may actually be their year. They've got some tough games coming up, but who doesn't.

Except they are 30 better on the floor.

You did a nice job tonight!

But I'm sure there are good reasons for it.

"Oh, it was our injuries!" - we have two 4-stars out for the season
"Purdue sapped our precious bodily fluids!" - We played Thursday, too.
"We have freshmen!" - Where are your upperclassmen?
"We played two tough games on the road" - 3 of our 4 B10 wins were on the road
"We're still recovering from another (30-3) butt-rape in a bowl game."
"We don't take NU seriously because they've never gone to a tournament." - a 35-point blowout
"We broke Chris Collins' leg and he hates us." - my second fave
"Iowa is NU's bowl/tourney game." - my fave

I saw a team that lacks toughness and quit tonight. The Fainting Excuseyes!

No, we're not 30 points (or 35 points) better than Iowa. The line was NU-7. We were hungry cats tonight waiting to pounce on a bird that landed in WR arena.

I agree with the comparison to the NU team 2 years ago. Our guys have grown up and are playing well now. Iowa's will (and have - Purdue) in the future. However, two of our must highly regarded players are out for the season.

IDK why you say that? I have seen him be nothing but complementary and professional of Iowa and his opponent. Behind the scene I understand people are different but from everything I have witnessed, Chris Collins seems to be a good coach and good guy. You might know something and that is fine. You can have your opinion. I just have not found him to be annoying like Tim Miles, Crean, Izzo, and Bo Ryan

Glans81 doesn't know anything. He's...well...he's just a glans (the scientific term for a dickhead), always putting down the Wildcats and making a ton of excuses when they lose to NU. Most Iowa fans are fair towards other schools (except the arrogant louts at UNL, but they deserve all the grief they get).

Collins has been nothing but very respectful of all the coaches and teams in the Big Ten. His honesty and straight-forward personality is unusual in sports. Most coaches are guarded. Collins bares his soul. He's also a very tough, competitive coach, and he loves his players if they play hard for him. His players have reciprocated and have played hard for him for 4 years now.

The Cats looklike a very good team. The defense was smothering and they hit open shots all night. Whenever Iowa tried to make a run, they shut it down and made a run of their own. Clearly the better team tonight by a huge margin.

Yeah we abused them really badly during lute, davis, and hayden 's tenures.

NU fan here.

I don't know if you get the sporadic press coverage about Collins and Fran but they are very close and have a long history. Nothing but respect between the two of them.

I'm a 30+ year fan of Iowa basketball who is pleased to see Iowa beat anyone except NU.

Iowa didn't show up last night. Period. It happens but glad to get the win.

They all say that, otherwise they can't recruit. For instance, Hoiberg was Mayor of Ames.

Uh, NW is a bunch of sophomores.

Macintosh is a sophomore?? Damn that guy has been there longer than Shurna and Olaf combined.

Trust me they are not 30pts better than Iowa. It was quick sand last night and Iowa fought too hard and sunk. They let the game get out of control in the 2nd half. That's what happens when you have a young team on the road. If there is no senior leadership, the young guys press too hard and try to make everything perfect and what happens is turnovers, mis communication on defense and a 30pt blow out loss.

People need to quit rationalizing it.

Iowa got their asses handed to them. Plain and simple.

It happens. Move on.

McIntosh is a junior. Same high school class as Ellingson.

WE have Uhl, Ellingson, Baer from that class and NW has McIntosh and Lindsey. Edge NW.

Next class we got Wagner and Moss vs Vic Law and Derek Pardon. Edge NW for now.

NW also has Isiah Brown who looks promising at PG and maybe that Barrett Benson might be decent prospect. Fran has a big and talented class this year, but we are short on wings/guard talent.

Despite Fran's head start, Collins is eclipsing Fran right now.

Collins' first class was: Law, MacIntosh, Lindsey, and Skelly. Great first class! Law sat out last year with a shoulder injury so he's a sophomore eligibility wise now.

His second class was: Pardon, Falzon (out for season), and Ash.

His third class is: Ivanauskis, Brown and Benson. Ivanauskis is injured and out for the season.
