I was going to defend Purdue today about getting bounced early from the tournament but I've reconsidered.
We exposed Slick Willy's squad.

I rewatched the Purdue game and Iowas defense in the 1st half was just stupid.
Purdues first 20 points came off Edey ball screens.
Rebraca just stood next to Edey while our guards got screened and he never hedged at or engaged the ballhandler.
It was all easy baskets after that.
You can’t play defense that way and expect to get stops.
Looks like beating Purdue is letting eddy get his and stopping the rest of the team. Every loss they've had and a bunch of close calls haven't been done with double teaming as the main defensive plan. The rest of Purdue is beatable.
Pressure their guards is the key imo.

Exactly. You beat the rest of the team and Eddy will get his but someone mentioned the Oregon game. Same game plan. Beat the guards and have a much better shot at the win.
Was just like when we had Luka. I think we lost every game where he had 30 some points or more. He had 36 in our shellacking by Oregon. Clark mentioned earlier this year we'd lost every game she scored 40 points in. ( We won last week in the game she had 42 points against Maryland but that was after she made that comment).

Exactly. I didn't like the soft double teaming just to force Purdue to make wide open shots. There's a huge difference between wide open shots and contested ones.
I said this exact same thing prior to the game with Iowa. I'm calling Fran directly next time since it appears he isn't spending enough time on this board. 🤨
Nw was forcing Edey into turnovers too.

When Purdue needed to stem the tide, they always threw it into Edey and gave them buckets. If I'm Painter, I do that until they prove they can stop him.
