Oct 31, 2022: Fran brings up putting Students behind the Benches (Beth wants students around the court). Future Renovation of Carver-Hawkeye Arena?

Something I wish the University would implement is if your season ticket doesn't get scanned (or sold) to 70% of the games, you lose the rights to those seats.

Not everyone can goto every game. But there's plenty of people wanting to sit close to the court. But never have the opportunity at Carver because those prime seats are never available on seatgeek or stubhub. They simply just don't get used.

Losing rights to those prime seats is an interesting idea but does the UI want to risk losing the donations?

After the game has started, they should allow people to move to better seating (maybe they already do)

I mean, they’ve never really stopped people moving around if they see empty seats.

I can do it for 7 pm games and not have a huge problem with it. - if they had more weeknight b10 games I’d do that more often. But 6 pm games I’d have to take PTO for it and 8 pm games wouldn’t get me home until after midnight, and then have to get up at 6 for work the next day.

Yeah, we have too many fans who live too far away

People can't use cost as an excuse for not going to games.

I agree but by the time you add in the fees the broker charges it isnt exactly 3 dollars. Using Seat Geek a pair of 3 dollar tickets actually costs 22 dollars. Still decent but not exactly giving the tickets away.

I think you’re on to something. If the ticket isn’t scanned in the first 5 minutes of the game then they should be given away. Something like that.

Have you heard anything in regards to what Beth is planning?

There's been tons of ideas proposed over the last couple of years but nothing happens, unfortunately.

And what types of renovations can actually happen in CHA?

Laughable idea. Not a chance they will do that. Nor should they.
If you want a crowd at Carver, get rid of Fran.
Unfortunately or Fortunately depending on how you feel this is the only answer unless there are multiple years of NCAA runs. The Non conference schedule is also garbage.

hopefully attendance starts picking up starting with Clown U

The announced attendance (total tickets sold AND distributed) for the Tues Nov 26 USC Upstate game was 7,732.

The tickets scanned (and actual butts in the seats) was much lower, of course.

How can we find how many tickets were scanned?

I don't think one can compare an Iowa ISU wrestling meet to USC Upstate v Iowa and wonder why wrestling was louder. Duh.

FYI, their season tickets are only a small portion of the capacity. Northwestern has only sold out one game this year, and it’s next week’s game vs. Illinois … and trust me when I say over 60% of that crowd will be in orange.
Watched the Arkansas game today. That Illini squad is coming together more quickly than I thought they would. They never trailed...great spacing, size and shooting everywhere...and they really D you up.... Sure Cal sucks... but they look like a legit Big Ten title contender from what I've seen so far from around the league. Michigan looks good too.

Simply pointing out that Carver gets very loud and very alive when it's full of people who want to be there
Yep. I remember Carver in the 80s and 90s. Place was rocking. Maybe Carver isn't as conducive to noise as the old fieldhouse (never had the chance to go to a game there) but IMO it is not a CHA problem, but a fanbase problem. I believe that firmly.
