Chicago had a very tough final nine or so games leading into the break. The only two games in which they were favored were the two against Atlanta. They won those two comfortably. However, they also won at Seattle and at Las Vegas, which are very good wins. The Sky will very likely be in the playoffs.

There is currently a fairly big gap between 8th place Chicago and 9th place Atlanta. As long as the Fever play decently after the break, they should make the playoffs. The Sparks and Wings are pretty much toast at this point. Atlanta has been bad since losing their star Rhyne Howard. They'll get her back after the break, but it may be too late for them. The Mystics are a pretty solid team, currently, but they got off to such a terrible start they are five games behind the Fever. Again, as long as the Fever don't go into the toilet they should be in good shape.

This game features two players -Clark and Ogunbowale - in contention for the season 3PTers made title.

WNBA leaders re: 3PT FGs Made (games)
1. Ionescu, NY (25) - 74
2. McBride, MN (24) - 72
3. Plum, LV (24) - 71
4. Ogunbowale DAL (24) - 69
4. Clark, IND (25) - 69

The leaderboard is very fluid. For instance, Ionescu made 6 threes last game (vs.CT) while #3 Plum was 0-8 vs. CHI last night.

Stating the obvious, we need to be bright eyed and bushy tailed tonight, I was counting on the sky, losing that game to the aces. We have to win this.
Dad? lol

My dad used to always say this. Hadn't heard it in a while so thanks, I guess 💁‍♂️

Yeah ... it would SUUUUUUUUCK to have to sit on a bad loss for a month. Go Feve!

I wonder how hard the all-star/team usa game will be played. From what I understand, the W's all-star game is a bunch of grab ass no defense like every other major league's. But with this being a tune up game for team usa, perhaps they will play this like a real game?

I of course have no idea how past games have been played, buuuut ...

Gotta believe they'll play Caitlin just as tough as always. They want no part I'm sure of losing to CC22.

Now that would be something, if they picked her up full court with press coverage, in an all-star game. I could see it going the opposite way where they just het her bomb away from deep, so if they lose it wouldn't be like they lost a real game. With that being said, I hope both sides treat this like a full blown game with both sides going for each other's throats, and let the best women win.

Well, maybe they would have enough self-awareness to realize how cheesy that might come off.

Otoh, awareness of any variety hasn't seemed to be the W's strong suit to this point, lol.

A day of practice with an all-star squad? Yeah, that doesn't really play into Clark's strengths, so anyone expecting her to go off will likely be disappointed, but then it's Caitlin Clark so anything is possible. Regardless, I'd expect this to have practice levels of competition. Trying perhaps, but not really caring. Anyone's guess. Is there a betting line on this question?

Reeling Atlanta is currently playing at Minnesota and leading in the fourth quarter. The Lynx have 16 more shot attempts than the Dream, but the Dream have made more shots. Napheesa Collier is still out for the Lynx, which clearly makes a big difference.

Counterpoint is that maybe they will play Boston, Clark, and Mitchell together to maintain chemistry. Then again, that may be politically unfeasible.

Other points of interest are who will be the coach, and who will start? I suppose who is the coach could heavily influence who the starters are.

I think this will be a more competitive game than a typical All-Star game. I think the Olympic team will want that. However, since the All-Star team will not have had any practices with each other I'm not sure how organized they can actually be. As good as I think a CC to Reese pair could be (if Reese could make some layups) that type of chemistry takes time to work out.

Clark, Boston, and Reese will start - together. The whole world wants CC and Angel to play together. Angel knows how to run the court and get open. Caitlin will find her easily. Bonner is another that runs and cuts well.

I think one thing to consider though is that with the Olympics right around the corner, how seriously will Team USA take this game, especially considering several of the players are dealing with injuries, some lingering...........

Yes, it might seem like they want the competition but on the other hand, they don’t want to get injured Connecticut set Alyssa Thomas after 23 minutes in that game the other day versus the liberty and I’m sure they want to win

I predict Caitlin will make several amazing passes to Angel, which she will shoot but miss and get the rebound for. Of those she rebounds she will still miss more than half of them. Angel will end up with several boards and Caitlin will be below her average in assists. Caitlin will have 2 blocks, Angel none. Caitlin will have 6 turnovers with 2 of them being because Angel can’t catch a pass. Of course the ESPN nuts, along with the Sheryls, Staleys, and the Reeves of the W will go on and on about how that shows Angel is the “real” ROTY. Did I leave anything out? ;-)
