***Official Caitlin/Fever/Kate/Meg Games Mega Thread***

Good thing they're done playing Seattle this season, but I get the feeling that someday there will be payback in Seattle.

CC is always been that player that you love her if she's on your team and absolutely hate her if she's not.
As are any great and super competitive players. Pretty much everybody not on the Bulls hated MJ I can assure you of that.....

Here’s a serious question. Whoever gets the Fever in the first round will probably be either the 2 or the 3 seed. Right now, that appears to be either the Lynx or the Sun. If you’re one of those teams, do you move your playoff game into a bigger venue since it’s “the playoffs” but risk losing your home court advantage to CC Nation, or do you stay in your little podunk arena? Would “two sh!ts” dare play those home games in Target Center? You lose just one and then you’re headed to Gainbridge for the deciding Game 3.
That is an excellent point. Great post spider. My bet is that "two shits" would rather play in the smaller facility. Since she doesn't give "two shits" what the fans think..

I think also a fair amount of his teammates as well. He was incredibly hard on them being the ultimate competitor.
Good point. I'd heard that as well, that many of his team mates weren't fond of him. I do think that they all really enjoyed all that "jewelry" they ended up with though.. 😏

In a way, Caitlin reminds me of Maximus in Gladiator when he was told he kills too efficiently and quickly, and needs to put on more or a show, and he's like, are you not entertained? If she added some of that sizzle on I don't think there could be a more entertaining female basketball player.
She plays with plenty of "sizzle", and she's just getting started. Wait until she's been in the league a couple of years, and matures a bit more both physically AND mentally. She'll be lethal....

I don't know about that. Millions and millions of non-fever fans love watching her play. Gets props from Steph Curry, Lebron, and Kevin Garnett to name just a few. Seems like most of the W players are warming up to her. There have been about 5 incidents where people tried to get physical with her. Right out of the blocks with Carrington on the Sun, then Chenedy Carter for Chicago, and then Skylar with that little shoulder in the last game. Maybe there was one or two more. But for the most part, it seems like they all like her when they are not playing her, except for those in the tank for Angel Reese.

She is lethal, and she is incredibly entertaining, and has sizzle, but even she said in her interview she doesn't do those spinning no looks passes like Ticha did. It's not an attack on her, she's just not as flashy.

Erica Wheeler is dressing Lexi now. 🤣

I wonder if Caitlin is sitting on 6 techs if she might be given a lil bit of grace by the officials. I mean does the league want to sit down their hottest star ...

Nevermind, forgot for a sec who we're dealing with ... but I do still think a ref might be a little intimidated to bench C² for a game.

Thought about that as well, that someone would really have to sack up to run her for a game, but given how they did her the first month, who knows. I just hope she doesn't find out.....

Has Caitlin established herself as the best guard in the WNBA?

The history and the numbers don't lie:

full text of tweet:

Caitlin Clark’s season stats (thru 28 games):

• 497 pts................(17.8/game)
• 232 ast.................(8.3/game)
• 161 reb...................(5.8/game)
• 78 made 3PT.......(2.8/game)

ONLY 2 players in WNBA history have had 450+ points, 200+ assists, 150+ rebounds & 75+ made 3 pointers in a SINGLE YEAR.

• Sabrina Ionescu (2022...her THIRD SEASON in the WNBA)
• Caitlin Clark........ (2024)

And Caitlin still has 12 games left.

I can't remember exactly which games she got T's in, but it seemed like she got to 4 pretty quickly and then the refs backed off. Hopefully they back off again.

I think a lot of us selfishly wanted her to come back, but otoh knew it was time for Caitlin to go forward.

Well Iowa in the post-Caitlin era is going to be just fine with all the new talent coming in, and in the meantime seeing Caitlin and Co. rolling the "grown-ass women" of the W is very entertaining, not to mention witnessing her celebrity exploding.

Right choice all the way around.

Sabrina is one hell of a player. Looking up her 2022 stats, in 36 games she had:
• 626 pts (17.4/game)
• 228 ast (6.3/game)
• 254 reb (7.1/game)
• 83 made 3PT (2.3/game)

Looks likely that by CC's 36th game, she will surpass SI's 2022 numbers in pts, assists (already has), and made 3PM. Probably won't surpass SI's rebound totals.

I don't know. She got Td up for punching the pad on the basket support. Your probably going to get rung up for that. Especially since she'd already been talking to the refs. The rest of the game I kept yelling at the screen everytime she started going off again. She's lucky she didn't get a second T and get run. She's really going to have to keep her composure. She gets 2 more T's in the last 12 games and she gets a one game suspension. Can you imagine how crushed she'd be if she has to sit, and they lose costing them the playoffs, or a playoff game? I would never change her competitive spirit, but she has to be mindful of the situation.
As I said I still don't see why the Storm didn't get T'd up for 2 of the coaches and one or two players being all the way down by the Fever's coaching box during a live ball. That should be an automatic. Also my understanding was that ANY player who's not on the court and leaves their own bench area gets a 1 game suspension. So why did the refs swallow the whistle the last 35 seconds?
She did it out of frustration for her own play, not because of a call. Technicals are if a player goes outside of the rules or makes the referee look bad…neither of those happened. It was an unnecessary technical. The dude is too thin skinned and isn’t cut out for the profession.

AND it was after she'd been barking at the refs for awhile, and you have no idea what she said when she punched the pad either. There are those magic words that get you...

All I know is she had five technicals in four years in college and she was the same kind of player she is now, yet she has five technicals in one season so far in the big, bad, rough, and tough WNBA….so I’m going to go out on a limb and say it’s the referees and not Caitlin.

Looking ahead, at the last twelve games on the Fever schedule, the amount of home games is looking favorable for them.
Seven of those games are at home, while the rest are on the road.
Protect home court, and there's a good possibility of entering the playoff picture. Sky is a game and a half behind them right now. The first two on the road are against Minnesota, which will be tough, and then at Washington, which is winnable.

Imagine the stories Sheryl Swoopes would have come up with if CC had played one more year of college? LOL

As I noted above, 2022 was Sabrina's 3rd year in the WNBA.

Technically, 2020 was Sabrina's rookie season. On August 1, 2020, she injured her left ankle in her 3rd career game. She was diagnosed the next day with a grade 3 sprain, and was expected to miss about 1 month while recovering. In the end, though, she did not play the rest of the season. She actually complained about not being able to be considered a rookie in 2021, her 2nd season.

So, based on her playing in only 3 games in 2020 before being shut down, lets say 2021 was instead Sabrina's rookie year (she played in 30 of the 32 games and started in 26).

Comparing Sabrina's (2021) & Caitlin's (2024) Rookie Numbers:

..............................Caitlin....Sabrina
Points........................17.8.....11.7
Assists......................8.3.......6.1
Rebounds.................5.8......5.7
Made 3 pointers.....2.8......1.8

I wasn't saying rookie Caitlin wasn't better than third year Sabrina (or even second year "rookie" Sabrina, I was just noting that with the feat of 450+ points, 200+ assists, 150+ rebounds & 75+ made 3 pointers in a single season only having been done twice, Caitlin's rookie season of accomplishing that feat will likely exceed Sabrina's in three out of four of the categories. Sabrina is a hell of a player. Caitlin is on pace to be even better.

Be honest. We all know she got some leeway in college. The "star treatment". Thats not a knock on CC2 either, just what it is. She got a bunch early in the W as she's earning her rep. If anything the refs in the W have wanted to show they aren't giving her special treatment, but she's earned those T's...
